Nicolas Gurney applied custom-made cabinetry, sliding partitions, and mobile furniture to maximize the limited space of this 24 square meter apartment in Sydney, Australia.
Custom and space-optimized furniture provides sufficient storage for residents.
To maximize kitchen efficiency, 'wet' and 'dry' zones were created — with the dry zone located closer to the living room, and the wet zone hidden from view.
The folding perforated wall separates the bedroom from the living room, while allowing air and light to pass through. A flat-screen TV is mounted on the wall, rotating 180 degrees so it can be viewed from both sides.
Small-space living has become the norm in major cities, where property prices are astronomical, forcing designers to create space-saving layouts.
