Alpine Loft in Switzerland
Alpine Loft in Switzerland
Architects from two studios — Office Winhov and Office Haratori — have renovated an old barn in the Alpine village of Maton, Switzerland.
Following aesthetic principles seemingly distant from here, the architects connected exceptional simplicity with sophistication. Carefully preserving and reinforcing the existing wooden structure, they designed comfortable interiors, creating an internal shell with wide glazed areas and a well-thought-out insulation system. The reference to Japanese style is not only in the understated simplicity of the interior, but also in individual elements such as sliding doors reminiscent of traditional Japanese screens (sedi) and perfectly complementing the rough-log texture of the old barn's walls.
