Designing a 165 square meter apartment in Hsinchu, Taiwan, the HAO Design studio aimed to incorporate the tastes and preferences of all family members—the husband, wife, and their two children.

A snow-white backdrop was chosen as the foundation, creating a calm and comfortable environment. To give the design a classical character, symbolic elements were used while complex lines were simplified. The original black window frame in the living room was replaced with a round arched window to soften the space and create a stylistic reference to classic design. The white wall ends with a European-style cornice. The dining table, lighting fixtures, and sofas are strategically placed relative to the window to create visual continuity with the landscape beyond.

The kitchen was reconfigured and an open space was created, combining the kitchen area with the living room. Considering the owner's love for baking, architects designed a simple yet spacious cabinet space that not only provides ample storage but also adds a touch of elegance to the overall environment.

In the northern part of the apartment, near a window, a personal space for the head of the family was designed, tailored to his love for reading and his habit of watching TV and listening to music. The 'study' area is marked by a large armchair and a steel TV wall that rotates 360 degrees. On the opposite side of the rotating wall is a storage section for headphones, magazines, and other small items.

The bedrooms are the most private spaces, each designed with the individual taste of its occupant in mind. The parents' bedroom continues the white color scheme of the living room, though its wooden floor is slightly darker in tone, adding warmth to the room. For the bathroom, a combination of white stone and tile with a metal decor and lighting fixtures was chosen, creating an eclectic blend of classical and modern elements.

As for the two children's bedrooms, they are decorated according to each child’s unique characteristics. The boy’s room features leather and metal accents reflecting the young man’s firm and determined personality. The girl’s room, on the other hand, exudes an atmosphere of casual comfort with its textured background and designer furniture.
