Summer is approaching… the temperature rises, the sun shines brightly and for a long time, and our desire to spend time outdoors grows in proportion to the number of sunny days.

But if you don't own a house with a garden plot, spending time outdoors can be quite challenging for you.

For residents of high-rise buildings, the 'outdoor air' often means a small balcony located right next to the neighbor's balcony. It is very important to make this tiny balcony a cozy place where it's pleasant to spend time.

A balcony should be another room in your home. Do not turn it into a storage room where dusty antiques, furniture, toys for future generations, and broken items gather. Don't let this happen to your balcony! A balcony is your den, an open-air dining room, a spacious library. What will you choose?

Start with the floor. The choice of flooring sets the overall atmosphere of the balcony. White or colored tiles will give your balcony a modern look.

Terracotta tiles with a 'wild', rough surface will add a feeling of warmth and calm. Such tiles are especially suitable for buildings with Mediterranean flair.

Wooden floors add a cozy rural style, a natural vibe that blends traditional and modern homes. The cost of ceramic tiles starts from $0.8 per square meter, while wooden floors start at $1.2.

You can buy balcony furniture in any furniture store. However, do not buy too much of it.

If you don't have a lot of space, buy a simple chair and a small bistro table - that's all you need.

You can use furniture that transforms or folds into one another.

If you have a long or wide balcony, you can divide it into sections using plants and create a reading area, living room, or dining area. Your goal is to design a balcony that is fully furnished with furniture yet spacious enough for movement.

Pay attention to details. Choose pots that match the colors of your plants. Before selecting a plant, read about its beneficial properties and care requirements. Some plants simply won't survive on a sun-drenched balcony. Again, if space allows, you can choose plants that will provide shade for the balcony. For example, evergreen maple or tall shrubs.

If you want more privacy, make lattice panels where you can grow climbing grapes. They require little care but are very beautiful and practical.

To give your balcony a more modern look, use yucca and agave. You can plant an orange tree that not only looks beautiful but also adds a fresh scent. Why not create a small herb or vegetable garden?

Give yourself peace and comfort on your summer balcony!
