The FL Residence is a luxurious modern home located in the Santa Cruz Cabrália area, Brazil. This stunning residence offers just under 12,000 square feet of luxurious single-level living space. However, landscape design plays a key role in this project and is seamlessly integrated both indoors and outdoors. The project was developed by the studio Anastasia Arquitetos, which you might know from our review of their Belvedere Residence project in Belo Horizonte.

The FL Residence is located in Santo Andre, in the Santa Cruz Cabrália area of Bahia, on a 20,000 m² plot in the Aladeima to Araripe complex. The placement of the residence was determined by the orientation of the plot toward the beach. The building is divided into three main blocks connected by covered but open passageways. Spacious gardens separate them, transforming functional transitions into a pleasure of nature.

The first block houses 3 guest bedrooms. The second block contains the public area with a living room and dining room, kitchen, and service rooms. The third block houses the bedrooms on the second floor, creating an open pilotis at the lower level that serves as a large terrace of the house and functions as a relaxation zone. Thus, the view to the beach from the living room of the second block is not obstructed by the third block. Therefore, all bedrooms face the beach and accordingly receive morning sun. The guest bedrooms also open to the east.

The northern and western facades are protected either by ceramic masonry or large pivot doors that work as mobile breezes. As it is a summer residence, it was designed with minimal maintenance costs in mind and considering access difficulties (by ferry), we chose a more traditional construction system that can use local labor, despite the construction company being in another region. Thus, we worked with reinforced concrete structures and brick walls. Most of the wooden work was performed by local workers, and the ceramic bricks were produced in the village itself.
