How to Decorate a Wooden Cottage: 3 Tips Based on a Polish Cottage
Today we want to show you a charming Polish cottage, where the owners have decorated both the exterior and interior with light-colored wood. The total area of the cottage is quite substantial for a country house — 90 square meters. But this is exactly the case where size doesn’t matter. Because even a 20-meter home can become equally enchanting.

There’s a wonderful veranda in the cottage’s yard, decorated with wooden furniture painted white. All of it set against a backdrop of lush greenery, flowers, and roses.
Most of the furniture inside the house was custom-made from wood. It blends perfectly with the light-colored wood flooring, walls, and ceiling. The rest of the furniture is either painted white or matched with white curtains, tablecloths, and other textiles. The kitchen, combined with the living and dining areas, stands out with a clean white background.

Owners placed special emphasis on small details. These details set the unique tone and create a cozy atmosphere.
Thanks to perfectly chosen accessories and hand-painted designs matching them, the house feels like a single, unified whole — almost like a dollhouse.

The master bedroom is located on the second, attic-level floor. Like the whole house, it features a rich combination of wood, white tones, and patterns reminiscent of Gzhel. Additionally, fresh flowers or dried aromatic herbs are present throughout.

Creating a similar cottage in your own context is not as difficult as it seems — just follow these tips:
1. Use wood as the main finishing material. It can be any color and in any quantity.
2. Abundance of white color often visually "lightens" and expands space. But here, it’s not needed. All white accents evoke a Mediterranean, airy, and very light style. Don’t hesitate to use white curtains, bedding, and table linens in your country cottage. Especially since today there are countless products that can remove even the toughest stains.
3. You’re on a country property surrounded by nature, but that doesn’t mean the inside shouldn’t be decorated with greenery. A fragrant bouquet can create warmth and fill the room with a sweet, pleasant aroma.
