Island and Accent Display: How We Designed a Cozy Kitchen for Mom
A dash of inspiration awaits you
This 63.2 sq.m apartment in Moscow was specially designed for the parents: they moved from a private house to an urban setting, and it was important to preserve the feeling of comfort, freedom, and connection with nature.
The designers Nadежda Shishkova and Lidia Sudilovskaya worked on the project: they aimed to create an interior that is modern and practical, yet warm, comfortable, and close in spirit.

One of the key areas in the apartment became the kitchen-living room — the client's mom loves cooking, so all decisions here were carefully planned. The layout remained unchanged: the kitchen occupies a wall and partially extends into an island, behind which it's convenient to prepare meals.
Design: Nadежda Shishkova and Lidia SudilovskayaThe kitchen set is made in a light color palette with warm wood texture on open shelves — these are what make the kitchen feel more "homey" and visually light. The appliances are built-in: dishwasher, cooktop, oven, microwave. The refrigerator is standalone and placed at the back of the composition.

Upper cabinets have no handles — the fronts are lowered by 2 cm, making them easy to open just by pulling. Lower modules have drawer slides, which is convenient in daily life. The island deserves special attention: it serves as a work surface and a space for setting the table.

All interior tones are soft, light, with touches of natural wood — this is what creates a feeling of peace and comfort that the designers aimed for.
Design: Nadежda Shishkova and Lidia SudilovskayaThe kitchen turned out not only functional but also very heartwarming — it's a place where you want to spend time, cook, host family dinners, and simply enjoy the quiet. Thanks to a harmonious combination of materials, light, and details, the space became a true continuation of the natural environment the owners were accustomed to — now with urban comfort and modern convenience.
