We help make the bathroom stylish and practical

The bathroom has long since ceased to be just a utility room. Today it is a place for relaxation and restoring energy. We tell you which design solutions in the bathroom are no longer relevant in 2025 and what to replace them with.

Main points from the article:

  • Checkerboard tiles are no longer a trend and need to be replaced;

  • Chrome fixtures are giving way to matte and black solutions;

  • Classic vanities with sink are no longer in style;

  • Open storage for cosmetics and household chemicals is considered outdated;

  • Identical tiles on floor and walls are going into the past;

  • Spotlights are no longer a relevant solution.

The "Caban" is retiring

White tiles in the format of "Caban", which took over bathrooms several years ago, is gradually losing popularity. Its place is taken by large-format ceramic granite or unusual tiles in complex shapes. Particularly relevant are hexagons, irregularly shaped tiles, and vertical laying of rectangular elements. If you still love classicism, pay attention to handcrafted tiles with uneven edges and surfaces.

New perspective on fixtures

Bright chrome mixers and shower systems are no longer considered a sign of modern bathroom design. Matte finishes, graphite and black shades, as well as brass with patina are in style. Such fixtures not only look more stylish but are also easier to maintain – no water spots remain on them.

Furniture becomes more modern

Classic vanities with sliding drawers under the sink are outdated. The modern trend is suspended structures with minimal details or, conversely, interesting design solutions with an open frame. Particularly relevant are vanities made from moisture-resistant plywood or painted metal, which create an industrial atmosphere.

Storage in a new way

Open shelves with bottles and containers no longer decorate the bathroom. All cosmetics and household chemicals are now supposed to be hidden behind cabinet doors. Trends include built-in storage systems and compact tall cabinets to the ceiling. Special attention is paid to space organization inside: sliding systems, organizers, and special separators are used.

Tiles become more diverse

Identical tiles on floor and walls, creating a monolithic space effect, is no longer considered a good solution. Modern design plays with contrasts: large format on the floor and small tiles on walls, or a combination of different textures and patterns. It is important to maintain balance and not overload the space.

Lighting changes the character

Traditional spotlights in the bathroom give way to more complex lighting solutions. Hidden LED strips around the ceiling perimeter, wall-mounted lights with diffused light, and even small pendant chandeliers in spacious bathrooms are in vogue. Special attention is paid to mirror backlighting – it should be functional and provide proper lighting for personal care.

Shower zones without trays

Shower cabins with high trays have completely gone out of style. They are replaced by shower zones at floor level, separated by glass partitions or simply a curtain. Such a solution not only looks modern but also visually expands the space, making it more cohesive.

Finishing becomes more complex

A simple wall paint or tile installation from edge to edge is no longer considered sufficient. Trends include combining materials: moisture-resistant plaster, micro-cement, ceramic granite, and even natural stone. It is important to create an interesting composition where different materials complement each other.

How to update the bathroom without a full renovation

If a complete bathroom overhaul is not yet in your plans, you can refresh the space with targeted changes:

  • Replace mixers with modern matte models;

  • Install a new storage system;

  • Update lighting by adding wall lights;

  • Replace the mirror with a more modern model with backlighting;

  • Change textiles and accessories.

Remember that the bathroom should be not only stylish but also practical. Any design solutions should be evaluated from the perspective of usability and ease of maintenance.
