Asymmetrical Mini Studio 25 m² with Smart Solutions
Kitchen without stove, wall murals, concrete blocks instead of planters and lots of DIY projects
Designer-decorator Julia Filimonova created an apartment for herself and her minimalist lifestyle. She planned the layout, designed the interior, and made many things with her own hands. Using stylish monochrome tones, Julia created a cozy and comfortable atmosphere that fully reflects her lifestyle.
Location: Moscow
House Type: New Building
Area: 25 m²
ceiling Height: 2.7 m
Number of Rooms: 1
Bathroom: 1
Design: Julia Filimonova
This small studio is located in the Krasnogorsk district of Moscow Oblast. At the time of purchase, the apartment was 'in concrete'. Julia allocated several zones: a hallway with a small wardrobe, bathroom, bedroom, workspace, and kitchen-dining area.

For the interior, Julia chose various shades of gray and used different decorative techniques. The wall above the kitchen cabinet and part of the bedroom wall were painted dark gray, while the cabinet and dining area were plastered with cement mixture with a light texture (the ceiling was also decorated in the same way), and the wall next to the sofa was done with a mural effect. Different textured surfaces look very stylish, making the atmosphere expressive and interesting.

The main feature of the kitchen is the absence of a stove. Julia is a vegetarian, and a stove is simply not needed for her. The cabinet consists of standard pre-made modules. The lower facades were painted dark by the girl herself, and the upper cabinet was made light. The countertop was made from epoxy resin – Julia also poured it herself on an OSB board cut to the required size.
The accents in the kitchen were the refrigerator and a bright apron. The tile color for the apron was chosen to match the rug in the dining area. It was precisely this rug that became the starting point for the color scheme of the entire apartment. Julia also laid the apron herself, first mounting an OSB board to the wall.

The dining area looks like a cozy French café. The base of the round table was made from cast iron, and Julia painted the countertop in a dark color. The vintage fan above the table was bought at the 'Levsha' flea market for just 600 rubles. Next to the table is an interesting floral arrangement. The flower stands were made from ordinary construction blocks of different sizes.

Julia made the workspace table herself and repainted the countertop in a dark shade. The tilt of the table can be adjusted, which is very convenient. The screen under the radiator was also made by the apartment owner from narrow strips.

Rest and sleep area is separated from the workspace by a beautiful latticed partition. Julia ordered it at the factory to fit the exact dimensions and painted it in the color of the refrigerator and kitchen apron.

For rest and sleep, Julia chose a sofa and placed it in a small niche, the wall of which was painted dark gray. The chandelier was also made by her – she attached palm decorative leaves to the frame and painted them dark. Storage is provided by a vintage oak console table. Julia restored it, replaced the top, and painted it with oil.

The room from the hallway is separated by a black textile curtain. It saves space and adds warmth to the room. The same curtain is used for the entrance to the wardrobe.

Ceramic granite in two shades was used for bathroom finishing. On a small area, it was possible to fit a shower cabin, installation, sink with a cabinet, and a washing machine. Julia also made the console under the machine herself from furniture board and the base of a half-bar table.
