Tiny 3 sqm Bathroom in a Brezhnev-Era Apartment

Designer Victoria Egorova did a budget renovation in a one-room apartment in a brezhnev-era building. The most eye-catching room was the bathroom.

The space was originally combined, and the client wanted to keep a bathtub, not a shower. Additionally, the layout was complicated by a gas boiler located in the bathroom.

The bathroom layout remained unchanged. A washing machine was placed here, positioned above it with a special sink with an offset drain – thereby saving space on the kitchen. Storage is in a cabinet behind the mirror door above the sink. Also, a storage unit behind the toilet with a roller shutter can be used for household items like mops and sponges. Access to gas pipes was provided via a small "window".

To save space and maintain the overall sense of room volume, a wall-mounted toilet was abandoned in favor of a compact countertop model. It sits flush against the wall, hiding all utilities.

For finishing, bright orange was chosen for the walls and ceiling. It diverts attention from the small size of the bathroom — a very useful trick. In the wet zone, white rectangular tiles from Kerama Marazzi were used; grout was matched to the painted walls and ceiling, emphasizing the tile shape and adding graphic appeal to the interior.

Modern black mixers and a towel radiator were added for this season.
