Creative budget-friendly ideas for your interior

We have collected impressive living rooms from projects of our heroes, which are decorated using products from the Swedish brand IKEA. Designers have come up with various tricks to mask recognizable items and avoid association with mass market. Modern + Vintage

Design: Viktoria Vlasova
IKEA Products: Stockholm side tables + Freihetan sofa and Malm cabinet

Designers do not overlook IKEA products in their projects, but always try to add them in a controlled manner. Indeed, there are interiors where all rooms are furnished with IKEA items and they look quite interesting.

One such bright example can be this 2-bedroom apartment in Moscow. A large portion of the budget was invested in high-quality room finishing: solid doors, wooden floors, and gypsum cornices instead of polyurethane ones. This already gave the interior a sense of solidity. Vintage accents also work, such as original posters from the 60s and a restored vintage armchair.

Modern with Scandi and Provence Elements

Design: Natalia Isachenko
IKEA Products: Lohals carpet

In this living room in a St. Petersburg 2-bedroom apartment, the IKEA wool-free carpet blends beautifully with fabrics bought in Paris. The woven jute texture of the carpet, simple in style and Scandinavian in theme, fits perfectly into the Provence design idea.

Loft

Design: Andrey Popov
IKEA Products: IKEA cabinet (or Malm cabinet)

The price of a brutal loft-style interior is significantly higher than that of a typical modern one due to unique furniture. But here, IKEA comes to the rescue with affordable solutions for industrial design enthusiasts. An example of such a find is a bright metal cabinet in the interior of this studio in Krasnodar.

Retro

Design: Alena Erashevich
IKEA Products: Strandmon chair

To make the classic IKEA chair blend into the atmosphere of a 'Stalinist' interior in a 2-bedroom flat in Minsk, a new fabric was quite enough. The designer chose a contrasting floral pattern from the fabric range of this Swedish brand.

1970s–1980s

Design: Mikhail Novinskiy
IKEA Products: Valentina sofa

The product range of the Swedish brand is perfect for creating various nostalgic settings and Soviet-era design. Decorators know how to combine IKEA furniture with vintage and retro elements to maintain a harmonious atmosphere.

Even for creating unique author interiors, there is always room for IKEA furniture. For example, in the design of this living room, an angular sofa appeared that was not originally planned. The budget had to be cut during the renovation. As a result, a regular gray sofa became an excellent backdrop for decorative red accents in the form of cushions, paintings, and accessories.
