Modern technology combined with comfort — the key to creating the perfect bathroom

The standards for bathroom design are constantly evolving. People spend more time at home. As a result, the bathroom transforms: to make long water procedures even more pleasant, aesthetic accents and cozy accessories are added to the interior, while functional gadgets ensure comfort.

Although practicality has always been in trend, it is now given special attention: functional bathroom planning is just as important as modern design.

With Academy Director Igor Rovnov, we share the latest solutions that will breathe new life into your bathroom.

Wall-Mounted Plumbing

Undoubtedly, wall-mounted plumbing is not a novelty: the first models appeared on the market decades ago. However, today this solution is replacing traditional floor-mounted toilets and sinks.

There are several reasons for this:

  • Firstly, wall-mounted plumbing has an elegant appearance, and due to its minimalism, it easily integrates into the interior — giving you unlimited space for original design ideas.
  • With the trend toward larger bathroom areas, not every apartment owner can afford this luxury. Thus, another advantage of wall-mounted plumbing is that unlike floor-mounted toilets and sinks, it does not take up space and doesn’t look bulky.
  • Besides the visual aspect, there is also practical benefit: such a solution significantly simplifies cleaning not only the plumbing fixtures but the entire bathroom.

Hidden Installation Systems

The era when plumbing had to be installed near the stacks is in the past thanks to installation systems. Today, toilets can be installed anywhere in the bathroom — space is used much more efficiently. The material of the walls also does not pose a barrier to implementing your ideas: hidden drain tanks can even be installed in brick walls.

If you find these installation systems unreliable, technical specifications will dispel any doubts. Combined with mounting modules, they can withstand a load of up to 400 kg.

TECE was one of the first companies to offer users reliable and innovative solutions — universal drain tanks. Models continue to be refined to this day: the updated TECE Uni flush tank connects much faster. Connection to the water supply is compatible with fast adapters, so users no longer have to spend time on sealing. When creating something new, TECE does not abandon proven functions: hermetic 10-liter tanks have high strength and come with a pre-installed fill valve F10.

TECE Academy Director Igor Rovnov: "Flush tanks with built-in cisterns are more reliable compared to traditional ones, and all service maintenance can be performed through a review access hole hidden behind the flush panel. Installation requirements for such equipment are almost the same as for floor-mounted toilets, so any limitations are identical for both types of sanitary fixtures."

Multifunctional Plumbing

Toilets with bidet functions are an example of functionality: they combine a modern approach to personal hygiene with practicality in design. If your bathroom space does not allow for installation of multiple devices, a 2-in-1 solution is the best option.

Bidet toilets provide full hygiene cycles, while the cost of a hybrid model is lower than buying a toilet and bidet separately. When choosing a device, it is recommended to opt for wall-mounted plumbing: its main advantages have already been introduced.

If you wish to install a multifunctional model in your bathroom, choose devices equipped with the latest technology. The TECEone toilet with bidet function gives users a feeling of absolute freshness: cleaning with warm water can be compared to taking a shower. Convenient regulators allow setting exact parameters for the ideal temperature, and the shower function is adjusted by water pressure. Using the toilet without electricity — a breakthrough created by TECE.

Barrier-Free Space

The absence of visible barriers and unity of space is one of the main trends in modern architecture. When designing a bathroom, this approach should be followed: designers’ freedom of creativity is no longer constrained by technical characteristics of the space. Install the bathtub not along the wall, but in the center of the room — this will allow you to use the area efficiently and even free up space for a separate shower.

Open shower zones with glass partitions visually expand the boundaries and provide comfort in use. Users don't need to enter an uncomfortable and bulky shower cabin: with drainage systems, a shower can be arranged right at floor level. This approach is particularly relevant now, as more attention is being paid to water procedures.

Permanently eliminate barriers in the bathroom with the TECEdrainline drainage channel: the structure fully integrates into the floor, and the channel can easily be made nearly invisible — surface continuity remains intact. The harmony in bathroom design is ensured by TECEdrainline plates with tile laying bases, glass decorative panels, or specialized models for showers with natural stone.

TECE Academy Director Igor Rovnov: "The layout of such a shower zone must, of course, be based on the project of engineering systems. It is impossible to cover all technical solutions in one article, but the main points are as follows:

  • floor construction and its ability to withstand the required load;
  • "clean floor" level in the bathroom and adjacent rooms;
  • necessity of waterproofing the bathroom floor and walls adjacent to the shower zone;
  • drainage channel location relative to the sewage stack. The possibility of ensuring the required slope of horizontal water drainage pipes;
  • correct selection of drainage channel length and installed siphon with sufficient capacity to ensure the same water flow as provided by the shower system;
  • selection of reliable sanitary equipment and pipe materials that can be used not for years, but decades, since replacing such equipment hidden in the floor structure would practically mean a new renovation."

IMPORTANT! Barrier-free showers are convenient to use in low-rise construction and multi-apartment residential buildings, hotels. Especially since the new edition of SP 30.13330.2020 „INTERNAL WATER SUPPLY AND SEWAGE SYSTEMS OF BUILDINGS“ allows the use of traps in such spaces if they function as shower trays.

Using High-Tech Products

The demand for innovative devices is growing every day, which is logical: with each new function, using familiar appliances becomes much more comfortable. For example, anti-fog mirrors remain clean and dry at any humidity level, and mixers with infrared sensors help save water and ensure convenient operation.

Modern technologies help perfect every detail in the bathroom: even a familiar flush panel gains a completely new meaning with high-tech coating. TECE’s model range includes options that meet every buyer's needs: durable panels with contactless control, models with single or double flush.

Touch interaction with the matte surface of the TECEvelvet panel will delight users: the surface is protected from fingerprints and unaffected by external impact.

If you prefer more traditional solutions, TECEloop face panels made of natural materials give a fresh look at classic design: strict design combines with the modern trend of using natural materials in interiors. It's also important that TECE flush tanks and flush panels are always compatible, so installation is faster than ever.
