Interior-2021: what will be in trend?
We tell how the pandemic influenced interior design and which solutions will be relevant in the upcoming year

Eco-friendliness
After quarantine and closed borders, people especially wanted to reconnect with nature — there is growing orientation towards eco-friendliness and mindful consumption. This lifestyle has also come into interior design.
In 2021, there will be even less plastic and artificial items in design. Stone, wood, natural dyeing methods, rejection of artificial plants, energy-saving technologies, and support for local production — all of this will be in demand as it gives us the opportunity to be closer to nature.

Natural materials and low-maintenance surfaces
The trend towards eco-friendliness sets its own rules, so in the trend all is natural: jute, leather, ceramics, light wood, stone. Instead of calm white finishes from artificial agglomerate — rare and exotic materials, marble with veins, and wide-format ceramic granite.
Agree, COVID-19 changed the perception of life and reminded us how important health and safety are. Therefore, in interior design, materials that are less susceptible to bacterial growth and easy to maintain will gain popularity: glass, metal, functional fabrics with special stain protection.

Individualized layouts
During the pandemic, many understood that the kitchen, home office, living room, and playroom should not be a single space. Everyone needs more privacy, and combined spaces are becoming less appealing.
At the same time, there will still be space for multi-functional areas in interiors. In 2020, we all learned to work, study, and relax at home, so it's important that interiors easily transform and adapt to our needs. This is helped by sliding doors, partitions, modular furniture, and furniture-transformers. With their help, you can quickly turn one room into two.

Convenient and high-quality furniture
Interiors have become more flexible and adaptable, so the furniture in them should last long. High-quality and durable furniture will age beautifully and create a special atmosphere in the interior.
The key theme has become comfort and creating one's own world. More and more clients are looking for sofas and armchairs with deeper seats, larger cushions — places where you can lie down and sit comfortably.

Maximalism in interior design
Today people want to express themselves, including in interiors. And maximalism allows them to do so fully. Multi-layered and eclectic spaces look comfortable and create a feeling of warmth and security.
In 2021, you can mix old and new, departing from perfectly polished items to more natural surfaces. In such interiors, a connecting element can be color, a unified concept, or theme.

Warm and deep tones
Interiors will become warmer. Neutral tones and earthy shades are in trend. New gray has all the chances to become camel color. Deep tones like olive green and burnt orange will not go anywhere.
A soft blue among the relevant trends in the upcoming year. It reminds of sky and water, helping to create a calming atmosphere at home — what is needed after a tough year.

Declining mid-century modern
The popular style of mid-century is giving way to warmer and more interesting things.
According to trendsetters’ observations, from brown furniture of the mid-20th century we are moving towards the popular direction of Art Deco from the 1930s and 1940s. We expect a return of floral prints, gold-plated finishes, and decorative details.

Smart technologies
People have become so used to smart technologies that they definitely don’t plan to stop at what’s already achieved. In 2021, they will enter our lives even more closely.
Among popular ones are keyless access, temperature, motion, and presence sensors, and smartphone control. Now everything can be programmed: from security and air conditioning systems to lighting scenarios and musical accompaniment.
