Boring Gray: Interior That Won't Get Old
Gray can be unobtrusive and vibrant, strict and cozy. On the example of this design, we explain how to 'tame' it and use it in interior design
This three-room apartment is located in a picturesque area of Stockholm called Vasastan. Here there are many parks and cozy cottages, so the view from the window usually brings good fortune to everyone.
The apartment area is 89 square meters, so there's plenty of space here. There is a spacious living room with a tile stove, a kitchen-dining room with a large dining table, a bedroom, a children's room, a storage room, a wardrobe, and a cozy open balcony.

The apartment's interior is built on a contrast of light and dark gray tones.
Light tones visually expand the space, so designers use them in small rooms. Dark gray tones, as in the living room and children's room, on the contrary, narrow the space and add coziness. Yet the interior does not seem too dark—large windows save the day.

To prevent the decor from becoming monochromatic, gray tones were diluted with beige and sandy shades—these make the atmosphere warmer and cozier. The same can be said about the tile stove and ceiling moldings.
By the way, the bedroom turned out entirely beige—this color helps relax and lift one's mood even on cloudy days.

As for the kitchen, it's more contrasted due to a graphite-tone cabinet with small brass elements. Everything blends perfectly with the marble backsplash and light-toned countertop.
By the way, the cabinet itself is quite spacious—typically Scandinavian interiors emphasize open storage, but in this case all the utensils were hidden behind minimalist doors.

By the way, there are no storage issues in this apartment at all. Clothes are conveniently stored in the wardrobe—accessible directly from the bedroom. Household items are hidden away in the storage room.
Thanks to this, the balcony was freed from storage and transformed into a lounge area. Here one can relax on warm evenings and watch the sunset.
