How to Turn an IKEA Wardrobe into a Stylish Console Table?
Francesca is a textile designer, blogger, and mom. She also loves modernizing everyday furniture and decor items. On her website, the girl shared an idea for a budget-friendly update of an IKEA wardrobe. And it's so simple that you can easily replicate it.
What you'll need:
- White wardrobe from IKEA EKET;
- Wooden furniture legs from IKEA EKET;
- Chalk paint for furniture;
- Brush;
- Roller;
- Wood glue;
- Thin wooden planks.
Preparing the Surface for PaintingClean the wardrobe surface and lightly sand it so that the paint adheres better. Francesca suggests not using any stripping agents and proceed directly to painting.
To achieve this shade, Francesca mixed two paint shades: black and eggshell color. But you can experiment to find your perfect shade. Place the wardrobe on a piece of fabric, newspaper, or craft paper (to avoid staining anything). Using a roller, apply the first coat of paint and let it dry.

Then apply the second (and third, if needed) coat of paint. Don't forget to let each layer dry.
Attaching the LegsOnce the paint is dry, attach the legs to the wardrobe. Francesca bought furniture legs from the same series as the wardrobe. They come with mounting brackets and instructions.
Decorating the Front PanelFrancesca took a piece of plywood and cut it into many thin planks. Attach them to the front panel using glue (make sure it is suitable for wood).
Important note: the planks should not interfere with opening and closing the doors.
Painting AgainApply a few more coats of paint (now with a brush) and let the wardrobe dry. Done!
