Bright Summer House in Southern Spain
Christina and her family had long dreamed of a country house. Their dream came true. Now each summer they come to southern Spain to escape the urban rhythm. But first, they needed to beautify the house to make it truly cozy.
Light tones dominate in the interior: white walls, light furniture, natural fabrics—but what makes this place special are numerous vibrant accents.

Some of the furniture and interior items were made by Christina herself. She buys vintage pieces and then restores, repaints or ages them. In short, she adds her own vision and puts her soul into them. Thanks to the freedom to bring their ideas to life, she and her husband and son Gillam have arranged the house exactly as they wanted.
It took me a lot of time to find handmade items that are affordable. It turned out this combination is rare, so I decided to do everything myself. The kitchen and living room are combined. No matter what each family member is doing, you’re still close to everyone else. The centerpiece here is the ‘marble island’. In reality, it’s a bar counter with a marble countertop. Christina considers it a decoration element, around which she gathered the rest of the decor items. This countertop was custom-ordered based on a sketch.

I love expressing my imagination. I never leave things as they are when I find them. That’s why the house turned out so unusual.

The doors set the tone for the entire house. They are made of natural wood. After purchasing them, Christina aged them by hand.

The bedroom is vibrant yet not shouty. The owners achieved this effect through a combination of warm textile tones and natural materials such as linen and wooden furniture. The main accent in the bedroom is wallpaper with ferns.
I thought a lot about how to decorate the bedroom but couldn't come up with one overall idea. When I saw the fern wallpaper, I imagined everything else around it.
The bathroom is made from eco-friendly materials like bamboo and wood. The sink and storage cabinet were aged by hand just like the doors.

Another interesting feature of the house is that it has two terraces. One is perfect for watching the sunrise, and the other for observing the sunset.
Our house stands out from typical houses in this part of Spain. It’s modern but in a country style.More articles:
