5 Mistakes in the Repair of a Scandinavian Studio Apartment
Recently we told about the apartment of bloggers Kati and Kostya. The guys made all the plans themselves, prepared a design project, and bought all the materials. But not everything went as smoothly: there were still mistakes. We're telling you what to pay attention to when hiring a construction team.
Incorrect Installation of Pass-through Switches in the Corridor
The guys planned several lighting scenarios and even included two-switch outlets near the entrance door and bedroom to turn lights on at one end of the corridor and off at another, without having to go back. But after the repair it turned out that not all light fixtures worked and one didn't function at all.
Solution: always discuss all lighting scenarios in advance with the electrician and monitor their work. Such errors can still be corrected during the repair.
Low-Quality Light Fixtures
One of the light fixtures in the bathroom melted and now all of them have to be replaced (the guys bought them as a set). The holes in the drop ceiling were made specifically for these fixtures, so the ceiling also has to be reinstalled.
Solution: always check the equipment before buying — read reviews online. Even something as small as light fixtures.
Uneven Walls
During the renovation, workers made a niche in the corridor for a wardrobes cabinet. But they did not level the walls properly, and a small gap formed between the ceiling and the cabinet, which had to be covered with a trim.
Solution: always double-check the work of builders so you don't have any regrets later.
Incorrect Installation of Mixer Output
In the bathroom, Kati and Kostya made a connection for a standard mixer. But later in the store they accidentally saw an unusual shower system and decided to buy it. It turned out that the output was not compatible with this system.
Solution: first buy the plumbing fixtures, then make the connections accordingly.

Inaccurate Joint Between Baseboard and Laminate
Workers glued the baseboards directly to the laminate, which was laid as a single continuous layer. Due to temperature changes, the floor can sometimes “shift.” That’s what happened: in winter, the floor slightly shrank and the spackle used to secure the baseboards cracked. Kati even had to cut it off, leaving an unattractive gap between the floor and baseboard.
Solution: don't be afraid to ask questions of the builders and visit the construction site more often to check the quality of work.
