Of course, you can stick to traditional choices for wall finishing like wallpaper or paint. But wallpaper isn't the most eco-friendly option, and regular paint isn't always an original solution. Especially now there are many interesting and, what's important, practical options. What kinds — we learned from Loggia expert.

Textured Coverings

The most popular type of decorative plaster today, allowing to create various effects: marble, cement, metal. They can also be used to decorate vintage interiors — for example, there are coverings that imitate aged surfaces such as rust or marble with wear.

Textured coverings suit any interior style, even minimalist Scandinavian. For example, the Volare material is a fine-dispersed lime that from afar looks like smooth paint but has its own texture and soft touch surface. Very durable and fits perfectly into any interior.

Cost: from 615 rubles per square meter.

Fabric Imitations

Coatings that imitate denim fabric, velvet or silk, containing fibrous fibers in their composition. In fact, this is natural silk: it is pliable and can even hold micro-cracks during house settling, so it's great for new buildings.

Interesting texture of coarse-dispersed silk with fibrous fibers Montenapoleone — it is quite matte, but depending on lighting and application, it can give any pattern.

And quite recently there appeared an innovative coating — floor silk with soft-touch effect, which is also compatible with underfloor heating.

Cost: from 602 rubles per square meter.

Effect examples: Vanesia, Luce Di Stelle, Effetto Platinum Argento, Effetto Jeans, Moquette, Seta D'Autore, Oro Puro Lucido, Montenapoleone

Plasma 3D

This is an innovative polymer coating that can be applied to any surface, including furniture and floors, over old laminate or tiles. It allows creating various effects — imitating marble, wood, and even snake skin. Plasma 3D is water-based polymer, so it can be used together with underfloor heating.

Recently Loggia improved this coating: thus, BiPlasma 3D was born — a two-component material that can be applied very quickly and allows, for example, changing floors in just one day.

Cost: from 1770 rubles per square meter.

Effect examples: Cut Granite, Natural Wood, Snake Skin, Crackle

Sands

This group of materials is called "sands" because they contain natural quartz sand or synthetic glass fibers in different granulations, and their base is made of mother-of-pearl or deep matte components. The choice of these materials is also very diverse: with the effect of sandy winds, ocean waves, clouds with 3D illusion.

It's also important that the service life of "sand" plaster is more than ten years. The texture and brightness of colors remain in their original form. This is a good solution for high-traffic zones, such as hallways.

Cost: from 462 rubles per square meter.

Venetian Plaster

The oldest type of plaster in the literal sense. When and who first invented Venetian plaster is unknown, but during the Renaissance Italian masters already knew how to paint walls like marble.

It's amazing that the decorative coating imitating marble is from a country where there were never problems with this finishing material. Loggia has several versions of Venetian plasters — both the "original" thousand-year recipe based on marble chips or with added bee wax, and synthetic modern materials.

This material is often skillfully used to imitate marble if it's not possible to cover walls with it, and is also used in wet zones — bathrooms or pools.

Cost: from 350 rubles per square meter.

Flocks

Flock is a coating made of acrylic particles resembling snowflakes in shape (from English "flakes"). The classic coating consists of a base that can be dyed in any shade, and the "flakes" themselves that provide a decorative effect.

This type has somewhat lost its relevance, but Loggia has the Diamond material where flock particles are made of metallic components. Depending on application, it's possible to achieve the effect of metal. Even more expensive and interesting effect appears when applied to textured plaster.

Cost: from 550 rubles per square meter.

Photocatalytic Plasters

Coatings from the Umana line were developed by Loggia in collaboration with the prestigious Roman university La Sapienza. In addition to decorative effects, these innovative coatings work like a salt sauna for the whole year, purifying the indoor air from microbes, allergens, and cigarette smell. After a year or more, nothing happens with the decorative effect, but the purifying properties disappear.

The Umana line includes almost all types of decorative plasters: sands, silk imitations, flocks and even metal coatings in pastel color palette. The main advantage — price. This is a very budget-friendly coating, ideal for children's rooms: you can even draw on it with a black marker — since after some time only the outline remains.

Cost: from 318 rubles per square meter.

Microcement

Perhaps the most popular option for decorative coating that looks great in modern and loft-style interiors.

It's important to distinguish authentic microcement from textured plasters that imitate concrete. Microcement is suitable for walls and floors, including underfloor heating, and can also be used in zones with direct water contact — for example, in showers. Additionally, Loggia's microcement can be dyed in any of 90 colors.

Cost: from 2090 rubles per square meter.

5 Tips on How to Choose and Buy Decorative Coatings

When purchasing, pay attention to where the coating is produced. The effect depends on material quality. This is especially important for natural textured coatings.

Pay attention to color consistency. If it's high, you'll be able to buy more material later and it will match perfectly in color.

All coatings have different durability. Therefore, first of all, base your choice on the zone you're using it for.

For dark rooms choose light textures with light-reflecting particles.

For bedroom decor, soft and pleasant-to-touch materials are ideal. Visually, they can be quite textured and accentuating.
