This two-room apartment in the center of Gothenburg is located in a cozy spot: close to a botanical garden and a riverside. See how they balanced a white interior with vintage furniture and decor elements

Large windows in this white apartment open onto a picturesque old courtyard: the entrance is decorated with heavy antique forged gates. Nearby in the same courtyard is a museum: a special organization is responsible for preserving its original appearance and protecting historical monuments.

In this apartment, they chose to preserve the historical atmosphere and kept the renovation to a minimum. The interior is not typically modern, but respectful of tradition. They even preserved and restored two antique tile stoves.

The apartment is only 42 sq. m, but thoughtful zoning makes the small space feel spacious and comfortable.

The kitchen in the apartment is open but separated from the living room. Functional elements—cabinets for storage, worktops, and appliances—remain in the kitchen. The large dining table was moved to the living room, making the dining area larger.

All walls in the apartment are painted white, but to add accents, a fluffy white-and-black carpet was laid on the floor in the room, and natural linoleum in a checkerboard pattern was used on the kitchen floor.

The antique stove turned out not purely white, but with barely visible greenish "splashes." Therefore, the apartment is filled with lots of greenery to "complement" these splashes. The floor in the house is made of natural pine, and the furniture is also natural wooden—this apartment literally "breathes" naturalness and fully aligns with Swedish ideas of eco-friendly housing.

The second stove is located in the corner of the bedroom. Unfortunately, it doesn’t function anymore, but it adds extra beauty to the already lovely bedroom. The final touch is an antique cabinet that was decided to restore rather than replace with a new one. Radiators in the entire apartment were replaced.

The bathroom is located to the left of the living room. It has no special design features: everything is neat and white. Square tiles were laid with gray grout—this creates an interesting effect. The white floor was broken up with Moroccan tiles featuring a bright pattern.

The hallway is small but convenient: it has hooks, a shelf, and containers for small items, but most importantly, it is very bright, making it look spacious and airy.
