Creating a Neutral Background

The main advantage of a neutral interior is the ability to easily change the mood and color accents using new decor and textiles. For example, designer Milla Kolpakova chose light walls and furniture and complemented the setting with contrasting decor.

A neutral background doesn't mean white or beige. Designer Maria Bezuglova suggested soft pink wallpaper for the living room to the client, and he supported the idea.

"The space turned out calm, neutral, and easy to change: with bright posters, colorful textiles, and decorative items," — the designer shares.

Creating an Accent Wall

To liven up the living room interior, sometimes it's enough to have an accent wall. Choose wallpaper with a pattern or paint in a contrasting color. Or get inspired by the example of studio Tor-Ard: designers first laid concrete tiles resembling brick on the wall, then painted them in a rich color.

Using Classic Elements

A few paintings in carved frames and chandeliers with suspensions are enough to make a living room interior not look dull. The key is not to overdo it. For example, designer Svetlana Starceva managed to find a balance between classic and modern styles, making the painted frames with gilded edges the main accent in the interior.

And Warm Lighting

Don't look for complex solutions. Glowing garlands and candles will make the living room warm and cozy. Designer Irina Nosova hung a garland above the sofa, and decorated a decorative fireplace portal with candles.
