We tell you about trends and tips you should definitely consider when planning your kitchen space

The latest kitchen fashion trends are appealing for their versatility and a wide range of calm, basic styles that can fit any kitchen. All about the latest trends, styles, and fashionable ideas — in our selection.

"Living" Kitchen

This is not a new concept: a kitchen where you can cook pancakes, work on your laptop, and host parties is equally appropriate and expected to remain trendy for a long time.

What do you need for such a kitchen? A clean color palette, tactile and pleasant-to-the-touch cabinet finishes, minimalist appliances, and "living" decor such as mirror finishes, as seen in the project by designer Intra Sunklodene in Vilnius.

There is no need to fear such solutions: modern mirror cabinet finishes and kitchen appliances come with special coatings that protect surfaces from grease and fingerprints.

Playing with Scale

Kitchens with many small, varied details are going into the past. Today's designers lean towards contrasts and scale.

A large hood next to a flat cooktop, a deep sink, and a clearly minimalist tap — you can create a kitchen worthy of an interior magazine cover using quite affordable methods.

Minimalism of Complex Forms

This is not about sterile, overtly ascetic environments. Diagonal lines, geometry, and unusual constructions in kitchen design look fresh and interesting, even in the most minimalist presentation.

It's important to remember that a modern kitchen in minimalist style is unthinkable without a couple of eye-catching details. In a restrained monochrome setting, these can be bright colored accents, interesting tableware, or unusual decor.

Predominance of Stone in Finishing

Marble remains relevant, but the most popular materials for cabinet and countertop finishes are stone and concrete in various presentations.

A fresh trend from Eurocucina-2018 worth noting is combining multiple textures (smooth and rough, for example) or more than one type of stone on the kitchen.

Basic Colors

Gray, black, beige, white, and other neutral tones combined with rich textures — a recipe for a kitchen that won't go out of style for years.

Basic shades are easily complemented with vibrant accessories, textiles, or posters. And they can be changed every season.

Hidden Hardware

Low-quality, cheap hardware can easily undermine all the decorator's efforts. The current trend of missing cabinet handles helps solve this issue once and for all.

If doors with push-open mechanisms cause concern, you can choose the most minimalist hardware — the effect will be approximately the same.

Plenty of Lighting

Kitchen furniture and appliance manufacturers showcase a practical approach to lighting. Now, it is not just decoration but works as effectively as many lighting fixtures.

This is truly convenient: you can illuminate the cooktop with a hood, and the ceiling with lamps built into the upper part of the kitchen cabinet.

Wall Cabinet, "Room in a Room"

Designers suggest hiding cleaning supplies and small household appliances in one large wall cabinet or even in hidden rooms built right into the kitchen — provided the space allows.

In Europe, the first option is especially popular. Entire cabinets hide everything from refrigerators to washing machines. It's worth trying!

No Upper Cabinets

Open storage frees up kitchen space, but items on such open shelves and racks quickly get dusty and greasy.

If there are other places to store kitchen utensils, leave open shelves and racks for small items that always need to be at hand or beautiful dishes.

Presence of Free Space

Hide the excess, don't overdo the decor, leave more clean surfaces, even if the kitchen is very small — modern kitchens don't tolerate clutter. Still, it has never been trendy.
