How to Make Your Home Warmer: 5 Proven Tips
There are many ways to make your home warmer without much effort or big expenses. Here are five of the easiest.
Lay parquet or wooden planks on the floor
In winter, you'll realize this is a smart choice — wood retains heat exceptionally well. Of course, parquet costs more than laminate, but in the future, you won't need additional expenses for floor insulation. Also, parquet is more durable and can be restored. Laminate, on the other hand, cannot be repaired.
Other options include solid and engineered wood planks. They are not much more expensive, but engineered planks are more moisture-resistant and less prone to shrinking.

Install a heated floor
On cold winter evenings, you won't have to step on icy tiles after a warm bath. For tile flooring, a thin heating mat can be installed — no need to raise the floor level.
By the way, heated floors are a modern solution for other rooms too: living room, kitchen, bedroom. They come in both water and electric versions. The latter is easier to install and often used when fast heating of specific areas is required, such as a balcony or bathroom.
Don't forget to install a thermostat. With one, maintaining optimal floor temperature will be much more convenient, and a Wi-Fi enabled programmable thermostat can even adapt to your preferences from afar.

Install modern windows
If drafts come through your plastic windows, it's time to replace the seals. These are what prevent cold air, moisture, and noise from entering. If your windows are old and need replacing, choose plastic ones — they hold heat well and require minimal maintenance.
Pro tip: If you're trying to save money, order windows from the same store. At Leroy Merlin, for example, you can order any type, size, or color of window. A measurer visits for free.

Hang heavy curtains on your windows
They trap cold air and protect you from drafts. They can be made of velvet, jacquard, silk, or satin, linen, and cotton.
Choose curtains that aren't too long so they don’t block radiators and let warm air into the room.
