Tropical themes remain popular and continue to be in high demand

This year, tropical colors and patterns differ significantly from what we've seen before. What are the features of new plant motifs and how to harmoniously incorporate them into your interior, we explain together with the Center for Design and Interior "Expobuild on Nakhimovskoe"

What are the new tropics?

In place of monotonous contrasting patterns with banana palm leaves, more diverse and complex combinations of lush tropical greenery have emerged.

Interiors with such "tropical" decoration become multi-layered and expressive.

How to choose?

The renewed interest in tropics has resulted in a trend toward very large leaves and stems. Now more attention is paid not to the plants themselves, but to the atmosphere and mood of the tropical forest as a whole.

It is not necessary to take this literally: zebra skins or stuffed animal displays on the walls will be unnecessary. However, stylized figurines, glossy fabrics, furniture and lighting with a "living," natural texture like the Broni chandelier are warmly welcomed.

What to pair with?

Dark walls and furniture in the style of the Fargo chair are excellent companions for a safari theme in modern interiors. Aged furniture, floor coverings with imitations of wear or textures from hot countries, such as the FASHION carpet, will add expressiveness and color.

Another winning option to support tropics in the interior is living plants. Choose large-leaf varieties in heavy, solid planters: familiar monstera, sansevieria or large varieties of philodendron will reveal themselves in a new way and perfectly support the overall ambiance.

However, if caring for living plants is not your specialty, a few palm or fern branches in an elegant vase will also work.

What color palette to follow?

In multi-colored combinations of modern "jungles" in interiors, a tendency towards muted tones and black-and-white gamut is observed. Neutral decoration is not only stylish but also a smart choice: even when the trend fades, calm wallpapers like Sirpi Textil Grand Classic will remain relevant and not be irritating.

How to avoid overdoing it?

With neutral colors, this will be difficult. If you have chosen more vibrant tropical variations, avoid contrast and graphic patterns and include more monochromatic surfaces and items in the interior.

Replace white and black with milky, light olive, and gray-brown shades like in the Eichholtz pillow or the GOODWIN engineered board "Oak Sena" color scheme.

For which styles is it suitable?

The trend toward tropics is a great opportunity to recall exotic and respectable colonial style. Individual elements of this style can easily be incorporated into modern interiors with an abundance of wood, concrete and other natural materials with emphasis on expressive texture, like in the solid board "Fiji Oak".

Don't forget about interesting, unusual elements like African themes in accessories and canopy beds.
