Recently, the EuroCucina 2018 exhibition concluded in Milan as part of the ISaloni fair. We share the most memorable trends based on the design of kitchens by Lorena.

Corridor-style Kitchen

When a kitchen can't boast much space, every centimeter matters, and designers have the perfect solution — a corridor-style kitchen. For example, the INDUSTRIAL kitchen cabinet with high ante-sols and spacious cabinets of varying depths allows for full use of the wall space. Trendy materials with the effect of old iron sheets and rust, combined with golden glossy cabinet fronts, do not require additional decoration.

Kitchen Behind Concealed Doors

Hidden kitchens behind cabinet doors are one of the main trends this year. This is an ideal solution for apartments with open-plan kitchens and living rooms or studios. Now you don't need to worry about quickly tidying up if unexpected guests arrive — everything can be hidden behind the doors.

No Upper Cabinets

For several seasons in a row, designers have proposed lightening the kitchen and eliminating all or some of the upper cabinets. In this case, the kitchen apron rises higher and becomes even more decorative. Where are storage systems hidden? In column cabinets with shelves and built-in appliances arranged in a row like the LOFT cabinet.

The INDUSTRIAL SOFT model also looks lighter and airier due to the visual absence of upper cabinets — they are replaced with functional niches that open with a single press.

Natural Materials

Furniture made from natural wood is a trend that does not yield its position. However, designers also offer to use high-quality imitations. Lorena has released a new model called ERNIKA. Its cabinet fronts are made using the oak technique: they perfectly replicate the texture and grain of wood on both sides. Additionally, all principles of assembling solid wood cabinet fronts were taken into account: they feature 45° mitered joints.

Ceramic Cabinet Fronts and Countertops

Thin ceramic granite is becoming increasingly chosen by designers for stylish kitchen interiors. There is also a more budget-friendly alternative: for example, countertops and cabinet fronts of the Oxide Ferro series in INDUSTRIAL SOFT kitchens by Lorena, imitating ceramic finishes.

Subtle Classic Style

Designers suggest abandoning traditional classical elements: pompous pilasters, cornices, and revealings, and instead focus on more minimalist design and high-quality materials. They are not against replacing tired matte glass with stained glass or elegant grilles.

Mix of Classic and Modern Elements

Design experiments in kitchen cabinets are only welcomed. Designers boldly combine classic cabinet fronts imitating natural wood with countertops and aprons in concrete — fresh, vibrant, modern.

Countryside and Provence Style

Urban dwellers searching for comfortable atmospheres increasingly choose countryside and Provence styles to decorate their kitchens. Designers offer various options: open shelves, cabinet fronts with glass, wooden panels instead of tiles on the apron. In color palette, one can highlight a gentle green shade called "Mate" — it refreshes the interior beautifully.

Gray Color

Gray decor for cabinet fronts remains relevant for several seasons in a row. It can be mixed with white shades, natural wood, and pink gold accessories like in the COVADO cabinet.

With natural wood, designers also combine glossy cabinet fronts in a fashionable shade called "Basalt". This is the color of "emptiness," which visually expands the space in a small kitchen and allows for bold accents using household appliances and accessories.
