Wood, Linen and Vintage: Cozy Country Cottage in Sweden
Natural materials, soft neutral tones, modern trends and vintage details — this interior will captivate you with its refined simplicity
This bright and cozy home is located in the city of Gruum (Sweden). Its owners — a young family with two children — purchased the property in a condition requiring serious renovation and found its charm in starting from scratch to create exactly the atmosphere they dreamed of. Natural, neutral colors and eco-friendly materials were chosen as the main themes for the interior.

The cottage was built in the 1920s, and its new owners naturally wanted to bring a touch of vintage into the interior. Therefore, corresponding elements were added to the decor (note the vintage wood-burning stove and a period-style cabinet in the living room). The overall style is thus a symbiosis of modern trends and tried-and-true classical solutions.

The color palette is quite restrained: all shades are neutral. White, gray, beige, brown, black… Yet the interior is far from boring.
What's the secret? First, the abundance of various tones and tints: they add volume to the space. Second, the combination of textures: faded linen, natural wood, wicker baskets, ceramic tableware and clay flower pots. When brought together, these details form a picture of a simple yet meticulously planned interior.

On one side, the decor is infused with the spirit of vintage and rural life: this feeling is enhanced by logs stacked near the stove, an abundance of candles in candleholders and various textiles.
On the other side, modern touches were used: different chairs around the dining table, a mix of open and closed storage in the kitchen area, posters in the child's room. This combination creates a stunning effect, making the interior harmonious and unique.
Pay attention to how much care was taken in designing everyday comfort: the entrance hall has a bench with cushions and a basket for storing newspapers; the bathroom includes both a bathtub and a compact shower; in the bedroom, there's a wall-mounted clothing rack next to the bed; and in the kitchen zone, all necessary items are stored on open shelves for easy access.
