Bedroom in Blue Tones
Blue tones are often associated with cleanliness, coolness, and freshness. They relax, allow you to "breathe out," and recharge with positive thoughts. Designers often choose the blue color for bedrooms.
Many people think that such a choice is somewhat naive and simple, but everything depends on the correct color combination, choosing the right style and decor.
Bedroom in Blue Tones: Advantages and Disadvantages
First, about why blue accents will revitalize the interior:
Psychologists have already proven that the blue color for a person is relaxation, and in a bedroom - calm and peaceful sleep;
For small rooms, it works like mirrors - visually expands the room;
Choosing such tones creates a feeling of clean air, and as they say, it's easier to "breathe" in them, although this is, of course, at the level of feelings and sensations - differently for everyone.
Design: Nikolai NikitinTo make our review more objective, one cannot help but mention the drawbacks of this color solution:
an excessive amount of blue color in the bedroom interior decoration can have the opposite effect - too much "coolness" in the room;
moderate use of these shades will bring luxury and richness to the interior.
How to properly place accents and how to combine colors?

- Gray-Blue
Gray color is one of the "favorite" companions of blue. Using this pair, designers can create beautiful interiors in various styles, including the very popular Scandinavian style today. In gray tones, designers choose furniture or do wall finishing, adding a large number of blue accessories.

- Beige-Blue
The combination with beige and similar shades helps avoid the coldness and "alienation" in the interior. However, an excessive amount of warm color can "mute" the brightness and purity of blue.
- Brown-Blue
This combination can be called classic - blue with the addition of brown is the most "natural," such combinations are often found in the environment (sky and trees, sea water and sand). Wooden furniture is a very good addition to a room in blue tones.
Design: Yevgeny Zadorozhny, Architectural Studio "CHADO" - Yellow-Blue
Just like the previous pair, yellow and blue are a natural combination. Sky and sun - familiar "neighbors," together they give a good mood and life. Yellow colors in harmony with blue can make a bedroom suitable for energetic and cheerful people.
Design: DAO decor- Soft Blue
If you don't want bright colors, designers use monochromacy (different shades of blue) or complement the interior with white color. Together they create a clean interior, the feeling as if the room has just been cleaned.

- European-Scandinavian Interior
For the Scandinavian style, which is extremely trendy now, a combination of white and blue shades with wood is relevant. Usually, designers working in this style use modern furniture, light textiles with dark blue patterns. If you use embroidery, you can "go" into an ethnic style.

- Minimalism
Simplicity, monochromacy, and contrasting details look great in a blue palette, and the coldness can be softened with pastel shades.
- Provence or Country
The sky color is often chosen for the French style. The characteristic floral decoration for Provence will look more interesting when combined with the freshness of blue. Here, borrowing from classic styles is also allowed, for example, carved furniture or moldings. A lot of accessories, textiles, and dishes made from natural materials - distinctive features of the French interior, and all this can be successfully combined with blue shades.

- Classical Style
The blue interior of a classical bedroom is revealed through metallic elements, and better yet - gold. A light blue palette pairs well with beige furniture, while dark shades pair with brown. Designers love classical interiors where blue is the color of furniture, textiles, pillows, and other accessories.

Cold shades promote calm sleep and rest, so the blue color is suitable even as a basic wall finishing color. It was mentioned above that blue shades blend beautifully with beige, gray, white, brown, and these color solutions are recommended for room finishing.
- Walls
A bedroom is a room where wallpapers can be used for finishing. Nowadays, this wall covering is underestimated, and decorative stucco or paint has become more popular. But walls with wallpapers can be made in various shades and textures, adding interest to the interior with wallpaper panels - boundaries are only limited by the designer's imagination.
Incidentally, a brown-blue palette for walls is not only wallpapers but also trendy wooden panels.
Tip: Blue shades visually "expand" the room, so sharp contrasts in wall finishing with floor and ceiling are undesirable.
Design: E & A Interiors - Ceiling
Of course, you can go to an extreme and choose a dark ceiling, but photos of ready-made blue bedroom designs prove that it's better not to "invent the bicycle". Light shades are the right solution.
Stretch ceilings give more "freedom" in color choice, you can choose turquoise, blue, or sky shades. Glossy coating visually makes the ceiling higher. Stucco or paint generally implies beige or white colors. Suspended ceilings are now less popular, but in this case, it would be interesting to use moldings, better to stick to pastel color palette if you want brightness - make small accents.
As mentioned above, sharp contrasts are undesirable, so differences in tones should not exceed 2-3 levels.
Design: Nadezhda Zотовa, Enjoy Home - Floor
Finishing the floor is more or less simple. Rooms where sky-colored walls are complemented by a brown floor - this is an excellent solution. White floors are also acceptable, although more difficult to maintain, so most people choose beige color, the same light but not too harsh.

- Furniture
Real design photos of a blue bedroom show that the most successful look is furniture in wood, gray, or beige shades. With a cool palette, it's better not to overdo it as this can lead to excessive strictness and lack of the desired warmth.
Black furniture is rarely used by designers, remembering again about the prohibition of sharp contrasts.

- Window Treatments and Textiles
Textiles, particularly window treatments, should be chosen to match the wall color palette and even the window frame. They should "support" the chosen style, not contradict it, and certainly not draw all attention to themselves. Although, a window in a classical bedroom can quite well have voluminous draperies. Straight blue curtains or light ones with subtle patterns and white sheer - almost universal solution.
Pillows, throws, and other textiles should also be chosen to match the selected interior, but here one can "misbehave" a bit and violate the rule of difference in tones by 2-3 shades.
Design: Inna Zoltmann- Decor and Accessories
Accessories can be wall paintings, vases and photo frames, wall or table clocks. When talking about paintings, everything depends on the style. If it's European or Scandinavian style - it's better to limit oneself to minimalist posters and paintings - phrases. Classical style or Provence can be "supported" with paintings in carved frames.

Blue Color - For Girls?
Blue color is only for the male gender - designers are ready to fight these stereotypes. Pink shades for girls' rooms have already built up "a reputation," together with accessories "for princesses." Soft blue in combination with beige and pastel tones is an excellent alternative, photos of blue bedroom designs are good evidence.
