Design for a Boy's Room, Ideas for a Man's Bedroom Interior
Space and freedom, fewer clutter that hinders movement and only useful items – these are the main characteristics of a room for a young man or a man
What unites men and women? The desire for a private space – this is a trait common to both sexes. What interests the representatives of the strong sex? Space and freedom, fewer clutter that hinders movement and only useful items – these are the main characteristics of a room for a young man or a man. But what can be noted more specifically?
Features of a Man's Bedroom Interior
Design: Yena Zhdanova There is no universal design, of course. Everything here is determined by the temperament of the room's inhabitant, as well as their tastes and life aspirations.
Key Interior Items

First and foremost, it's the workspace, which includes a computer table and a chair or an ergonomic chair with a soft backrest if one spends a lot of time online. Things in a man's room are stored in a wardrobe, but if one leads a business lifestyle, preference is given to a closet where several suits, ties, and shirts that won't get wrinkled can be stored. Furniture items should preferably be made of solid wood, "powerful," as if emphasizing masculine brutality. Also:
- Television. Without it, today's world for men is unthinkable. This beloved item of the strong sex should be placed opposite the sofa;
- Audio system (home cinema);
- Bed or a folding sofa. The latter is used if there's not enough space in the room;
- Bar with drinks;
- A place for a small workshop. Psychologists recommend creating such a space: the need to create something useful or just beautiful with one's own hands is inherent in men. Moreover, engaging in a favorite hobby reduces stress. Here we mean a hobby that doesn't require serious tools or equipment.
Decoration

Many men like surrealistic art: statues, small sculptures, or paintings can decorate the walls and table. There is a misconception that plants don't fit into the design of a man's room. This is not true at all: living and indoor flowers are quite appropriate – both of them not only decorate the interior but also increase oxygen levels in the air. There is also no way to do without distinctly masculine items: hunting trophies, souvenirs brought from travels, sports accessories.
When it comes to color, in most cases it is dark and muted: brown, coffee or even brick-colored. You can make black dominant as well: with the right approach, it will make the room not gloomy but fashionable.
Modern Interior of a Man's Bedroom

Among all the diversity of stylistic directions, most representatives of the strong sex prefer just a few ways of decorating a sleeping area.
- Minimalism. This is a concise space with only the essentials: bed, nightstand, and wardrobe. Curtains should preferably be thick and dark in color. The color palette is soft, implying brown, bluish, and gray tones. This design of a man's bedroom is recommended by specialists for people who spend most of their time at work and need proper rest at night.
- Hi-Tech. Many people associate this style with something cold, "steel," and uncomfortable. However, if one correctly selects the combination of textiles and furniture with finishing materials and properly accentuates decorative elements, then the bedroom will be inviting for relaxation after a hard day. The ceiling should preferably be multi-level with built-in lighting. Walls should be the same shade, but their texture can vary. Cover the window opening with semi-transparent curtains or leave it open. Finishing materials: steel (preferably chrome-plated), brick, wood, and their quality imitation.
- Art Deco. Unites richness and the accompanying luxury. By the last word, we mean not only financial prosperity but also a wide choice of geometric figures, decorative elements, finishing materials, and their textures. Furniture is luxurious with many decorative details. The bed (where one can make a design accent) is made of natural wood and adorned with gilding. The color palette includes gold, silver, milk, and burgundy shades. Among the materials used, including textiles, one can note:
- wood (black and red);
- natural semi-precious stones;
- crystal;
- ivory;
- fabrics: silk, velvet, and brocade.
Classicism. The main difference of this style is constancy: it doesn't go out of fashion for centuries. To make a bedroom with a masculine "character" in classic style, use oak or maple flooring. Walls can be finished with Venetian plaster or matte wallpapers. The ceiling should have substantiality, which can be achieved through false beams. There is a wide choice for decoration:
- statues and vases on the nightstand;
- pictures and photos with calm motifs on the walls;
- luxurious classic multi-lamp chandelier;
- thick heavy curtains.
Marine Style. Suitable for romantic men. One of the main elements here is color. It should consist of shades of sun, sea, and be uniform. Welcome are turquoise, pearl, golden, and white tones. Furniture is made of natural wood, preferably aged. The floor of a man's bedroom should resemble a deck, i.e., it should be plank.
Zone Design
Design: Nikolai BarsukovModern interior of a boy's or man's room usually involves dividing the space into two sectors: for sleep and work (or study). Each of these should be considered more closely:
- Rest Area. The main element here is the bed (folding sofa). A wardrobe is also necessary. It can serve as a boundary between two zones if its doors are turned toward the bed.
- Workplace. In addition to a computer table and chair (ergonomic chair), there should be space for books. One of the options is a floor-standing shelf, with small closed cabinets at the bottom and open shelves at the top. If one places this structure between sleeping and working areas, it will create a good territory division.
Zone design can be achieved using a two-level ceiling, where the boundary between the bedroom and workspace is emphasized with LED strips. This method of zone design is particularly popular among young people.
Design for a Young Man's Room

Although all rooms for men have something in common, there are always nuances that characterize the age of the room's inhabitant:
- For a 20-year-old boy. The room performs several functions: it serves as a place for sleep, meetings, and communication with friends, and also has a workspace for study or engaging in a favorite hobby. In the latter case, one should allocate space for musical instruments (synthesizer, guitar) or a fitness trainer, boxing bag, if the young man is into sports. When selecting shades, preference should be given to neutral and not too bright colors.
- For a 25-year-old young man. Special attention should be paid to furniture: it should be arranged rationally and be as functional as possible. There should be convenient storage for clothes, so that the impatient young man doesn't spend much time searching for the needed item. If the space is small, it makes sense to use transformable constructions.
- For a 30-year-old man. This will already be the space of a successful young man. It makes sense to more carefully arrange the workspace: hang shelves for documents and books, buy a table with many sliding drawers. For guests, it's desirable to provide a comfortable sofa or chairs.
Design of a Small Room: Features

If one has a modest room of 10 sq. m, initially it is necessary to give up on large, bulky, solid furniture. Instead, a narrow wardrobe-closet can be placed along the longest wall. A separate bed can be replaced with a folding sofa. The finishing should use light monotonous shades, patterns or prints are undesirable.
Furniture for a Young Man's Room

When choosing interior items, use the principles of "space preservation" and "no excess." If it's a bed, it can be in the form of an attic construction or a sofa-transformer. If it's a wardrobe, it should be ergonomic, without decorative embellishments (a mirror is also undesirable), but with many small sliding drawers for storing small items, which a young man always has in abundance. There should also be a shelf where frequently used items will be kept. For clothes, a wardrobe-closet can be suitable, which can be decorated with thematic stickers according to the young man's interests. For guests, a small table and a wide sofa with cushions can be suitable.
Materials for Repairing a Man's Room

All coverings should preferably be durable and practical. For walls, flocked or fiberglass wallpapers that differ in long service life can be used. One of the options for floor covering is laminate: a wear-resistant and practical material. The ceiling should preferably be suspended, and lighting – spotlights, but above the guest table, a chandelier or several small lights in a row can be hung. A desk lamp is mandatory on the work table. Curtains (roll-up or Roman) should preferably be the simplest, without a bright large print.
An interior for a young man's room should not be monotonous and ascetic. The main thing is to never forget about bright decorative accents that attract attention and tell about the interests and preferences of the room's inhabitant.
