Residents of apartments in picturesque old buildings sometimes have to deal with unusual floor plans. For example, when entering the apartment, you might find a kitchen instead of a hallway. Let's explore the interior of this Swedish studio apartment

In the design of an apartment with 3-meter-high ceilings and a total area of 32 square meters in Goteborg, designers Alvhem Mäkleri & Interiör (we have previously published their project) focused on white walls and a neutral color palette in gray and beige tones, occasionally brightened up with turquoise: it was necessary to avoid the gaze lingering too long on the complex curved space.

There is no hallway in the apartment at all. The entrance to the bathroom is on the kitchen side, and here is also the formal area of the foyer. Placing a wardrobe for outerwear on the kitchen is not easy – it interferes with the window and the concave wall. Therefore, several hooks were nailed to the left of the entrance, and a shelf for keys and small items appeared slightly further away.

The IKEA kitchen was adapted to fit the unusual space. Opposite it, a compact dining table was placed and a small mirror was hung – in the reflection, the lamp glows as if there were two lights on.

The living room has a lot of furniture with legs positioned in various directions – an excellent stylistic device that unifies the interior composition. There is also enough space to complement the existing floor-standing coat rack with a large cabinet or sideboard.

Unlike the kitchen, the cut space did not spoil the room. Thanks to the non-standard layout, the sofa by the window harmoniously faces the center of the room and looks at the impressive fireplace. The fireplace was unjustly ignored: it clearly lacks a chair with carved legs or a vintage table to support the decorative upper part of the fireplace.

The balcony is designed with great comfort; elegant outdoor furniture was complemented with warm throws and soft cushions. And possibly, one can temporarily close their eyes to the inconvenient layout or even wave it away entirely if sitting here with a cup of hot chocolate and admiring the quiet courtyard with old maple trees.
