8 Mistakes in House Cleaning You Keep Making
Sometimes it seems like we know everything about proper cleaning, but we still keep making the same mistakes. What actions hinder our apartment cleaning and how to fix them?
Agree, spending a lot of time on cleaning is not what we want. But as practice shows, we make the process harder ourselves: use unverified cleaning products, don't turn on the fan in time, and rush to rinse off the cleaning powder. We talk about these and other mistakes in cleaning today.
1. You Make Cleaning Products Yourself
Yes, there are many recipes for cleaning products, pastes, and solutions on Pinterest and in the web. But do you have the right knowledge of chemistry to assess their correctness and safety? Often after an unsuccessful experiment with a new product, you end up re-washing everything. Think if it's not better to save time and money and prefer tested options?

2. You Use a Broom for Dust
Unfortunately, cleaning dust with a brush or broom is a waste of time because you just move the dust particles from one surface to another. Nothing better than a microfiber cloth for dust has been invented yet.

3. You Clean Windows in Sunny Weather
Cleaning when the sun is shining is pleasant, of course. But it negatively affects the quality: the cleaning solution dries faster in sunlight and leaves streaks that are hard to remove. That's extra work you could avoid. Clean windows on cloudy days or closer to evening.

4. You Walk Around the House in Outdoor Shoes
You'll say “never,” but you're wrong. Look at how far the shoe rack is from the entrance door: sometimes you have to walk through half the hallway. How many times have you entered a room or kitchen for a forgotten item already fully dressed? There it is, and yet you spread dirt from the hallway throughout the rooms. The solution is simple: place a plastic mat by the entrance and change shoes immediately.

5. You Forget to Clean the Vacuum Cleaner on Time
If you skip this important step, cleaning risks becoming “contamination” – the vacuum cleaner will blow dust back into the room. In bagged models, empty the bag when it's one-third full. In cyclonic vacuums, dispose of waste after each use.

6. You Don't Let the Product Work
Cleaning is not the most pleasant task, and you want to finish it quickly. Apply the product and immediately start scrubbing the dirty surface with a sponge? Read the instructions carefully: many gels and cleaning pastes need time to activate their active ingredients. Don't rush – you'll be surprised how much less time and effort it takes.

7. You Underestimate the Fan in the Bathroom
The easiest way to reduce cleaning time in the bathroom is to prevent mold and its stains. Turn on the fan for 15–20 minutes after taking a shower: humidity will decrease, and mold is unlikely to appear.

8. You Spray the Cleaner Directly onto the Surface
When you spray the cleaning product directly onto a surface, it dries faster and creates new stains – and attracts dust. To avoid this and simplify cleaning, first apply the product to a soft fabric and then to the furniture surface.
