Simple Storage Organization at the Dacha: 7 Useful Tips
There are millions of useful items in the dacha shed, and searching for them takes a lot of time and energy. To make work in the garden enjoyable, use our tips for organizing convenient storage.
The garage and shed at the dacha are usually used as a place to store unnecessary or broken items, while both could serve as a convenient workshop. Proper storage organization will save your time that you can spend on well-deserved rest. Our tips will help you understand how to rationally use the space in the garage and unlock the potential of the dacha shed.
1. Get Rid of Unnecessary Items
Sort through the contents of your shed or garage to free up space. Without hesitation, get rid of expired items, broken tools, and objects you haven't used in over two years. What's left should be sorted into boxes: work tools, garden equipment, sports gear, household chemicals, and then plan storage systems for each of these categories.

2. Use Walls for Storage
The most convenient and versatile storage space in a shed or garage is the walls. Hang shelves or install wall racks, make hooks for tools, which will free up the floor and eliminate the need to step over or jump over boxes. Install a wall panel with holes - this is an excellent way to store tools and small item boxes, such as nails. Don't forget about sports equipment: balls, rollers, skateboards will find their place on the walls.

3. Organize Ceiling Storage
Ceiling storage systems are especially relevant for small-area spaces. They allow you to store seasonal or rarely used items without taking up too much space. You can make such a system yourself using aluminum rails or buy a ready-made version. Loft areas are the perfect solution for storing skis, fishing rods, ladders, suitcases, and bicycles.

4. Improve Storage of Work Tools
Tools at the dacha should always be within reach. For metal items like wrenches and screwdrivers, use a special magnetic holder. Choose mounting with a sufficiently strong magnet to support heavier weight. Sharp tools are safer stored in old wooden boxes or plastic containers. A wall panel with hooks made from iron wire is handy to use. Store nails, screws, and nuts in transparent jars so you won't mix them up.

5. Designate Space for Garden Equipment
Proper storage of garden tools is a guarantee of their longevity, and this matter deserves more attention. Tools with long handles, such as shovels, rakes, and forks, should be stored where you won't trip over them. Attach special hooks or brackets to the wall for these tools. Open plastic boxes or baskets are suitable for storing gloves, scissors, and pruners. Remember that tools should be cleaned of dirt and thoroughly dried after use. For convenient storage of hoses, just wrap them around a large wall hook.

6. Organize a Convenient Work Area
A workspace in the garage will come in handy anytime - to transplant flowers, fix a broken item, cut wooden blanks, or pack the harvest. Place a table with drawers or use a fold-down variant to save free space. Install a wall panel above it, where necessary tools will always be within reach. Place a trash bin under the table and, of course, don't forget about a comfortable chair for working.

7. Don't Forget About Safety
Almost every dacha can have paints, flammable substances, rodenticides, fertilizers, and pesticides. Remember that they are toxic - never use them in enclosed spaces and never pour them into the sewer or water. Store chemicals in places inaccessible to children and pets: on the highest shelves, in a special cabinet, or in a plastic container with a tight lid. Do not use them past their expiration date and dispose of them following safety measures.
