How to Create a Festive Christmas Atmosphere at Home: 8 Bright Decoration Ideas
To make the main holiday of the year truly memorable, it is not necessary to go on a trip or reserve a table at an expensive restaurant. The New Year's night can become special at home if you show creativity and plan ahead how to create a festive mood. We have prepared 8 inspiring ideas for New Year's decoration just for you.

1. Set the Tone for the Celebration
First of all, choose a base color for decorating your celebration. A house for New Year can be decorated in characteristic colors of the winter season—pastel, blue, red, brown, or green. When choosing a suitable color, keep in mind that it should harmonize with the interior of your home. Once you've chosen a base color for decoration, add additional accents: for example, decorate tablecloths and Christmas ornaments with silver or gold paint.
This year in New Year's decoration, wool must definitely be present, as the symbol of the upcoming year 2015 is a sheep.

2. Decorate the Christmas Tree Correctly
The main element in New Year's decoration is, of course, the Christmas tree. But that does not mean you should hang all the ornaments you have at home on it. Choose only those that match the base color of your decoration and harmonize with the interior. The tree should not be overloaded with decorations. If you do not have the opportunity to buy new, more suitable ornaments, purchase tinsel—it costs less but looks stylish.

3. Dim the Lights and Light Candles
You will be surprised how much the atmosphere in your home changes if you replace lamps and lights with regular candles. Using glue and sewing materials (beaded bracelets, ribbons, strips of bright fabric, and unused buttons), you can easily give them a festive appearance. Create entire compositions from candles throughout the house, grouping them into New Year's wreaths. To make sure candles burn longer and don't go out before morning, place them in a bag and store in the freezer one day before the holiday.

4. Hang Garland
Garlands hung around the house also create a New Year's mood. Hang them literally everywhere—on staircase railings, along the dining table, on walls, windows, and, of course, on the Christmas tree. Thanks to this, your home will immediately transform and shine with new colors.

5. Decorate the House with Natural Materials
Bring winter nature into your home—pinecones and fir branches can become an original decoration. Decorate them with silver paint or tie them with ribbons, and you can confidently decorate your Christmas tree, festive table, and doors and windows of your home.

6. Set the Table
Just like the Christmas tree, a New Year's table should not be overloaded with various accessories. Lay down a tablecloth (preferably matching the base color of your decoration), arrange beautiful dishes. The picture is completed with candles, New Year's wreaths, decorations made from pinecones and fir branches.

7. Decorate the Windows
Draw frost patterns on windows. To do this, mix toothpaste with water, dip a sponge into the resulting mixture, and wipe the windows. Now let your imagination run wild and draw snowflakes and frost swirls on the glass.

8. Choose Textiles
Soft decorative cushions with thematic prints and inscriptions are probably the easiest and most effective way to create a festive atmosphere at home. Decorate your sofas and armchairs with them—and your living space, like by the magic of a wand, will begin to fill with the desired holiday and magical atmosphere.
