Exterpark specifies a maximum 4mm joint between boards, dimensioned for projects where accessible itineraries form part of the brief. Individual board access is a separate problem: most conventional clip systems require removing several adjacent boards to reach a single damaged piece. In a hotel at full occupancy, that isn’t a minor inconvenience; it’s a measurable operating cost. A system that can’t release one board without structural disassembly falls short of what a high-rotation project needs, whatever its other credentials.

What Exterpark offers, and where

Exterpark‘s patented Shark clip, now in its ninth registration, is available in screw-in and screwless versions and resolves joint width and individual board replacement within a single Tech composite product, with no cutting tools and no visible fixings. It has been specified at Marsa Al Arab, in Dubai.

For technical wood applications, Exterpark’s Wood collection uses its own Magnet S fixing system, applying the same principle of concealed, serviceable fastening to timber. The Louvre Abu Dhabi, developed with Jean Nouvel‘s studio, is among the reference projects specified in Plantation Teak.

Specify for the whole lifecycle, not just installation

For architecture teams working on a specification document, the point is to translate these capabilities into specification language before the tender stage, not to treat maintenance access as an afterthought once the contractor has broken ground. An exterior flooring system is too determinative in an asset’s lifecycle to be left as the project’s last decision.
