Babayants Architects designed the interior of a 95 sq meter apartment in the VTB Arena Park residential complex in Moscow. Known for its modern architecture and unique design, the complex inspired the studio to create an interior that continues the building's geometry — soft lines, visual lightness and calm Asian influence.

Interior Inspired by Meditation

The design is often described as meditative, exuding pure tranquility and comfort. The architects created an atmosphere where relaxation and visual lightness take priority, making the home cozy and precise.

The entrance hall begins with a hanging wooden cabinet, suspended between the walls. Functionally, it allows light to pass through the corridor; visually, it piques curiosity and invites exploration of the interior space.

Wooden Sliding Partitions – Precision in Motion

One of the most notable features is a large wooden sliding partition dividing the living room and studio. These flexible dividers can:

  • open fully, creating a continuous bright monochromatic space.

  • close partially, defining intimate zones for work or rest.

Achieving traditional precision by Babayants Architects was technically challenging. The studio allows clearances of no more than 2–3 mm, requiring exceptional skill in both design and installation.

Wooden Blinds and Play of Light

Clients actively participated in the design process, proposing to use long wooden blinds. These blinds:

  • filter natural light while maintaining brightness.

  • create a darkening effect when fully closed.

  • add texture and warmth through natural wood.

  • create dynamic patterns of light and shadow inside the apartment on sunny days.

This solution not only enhances comfort but also adds a unique visual rhythm to the interior.

Compact Kitchen and Japanese Dining Table

Since the clients rarely cook, the kitchen was designed as a minimalist compact wooden strip, resembling a sculpture. Only the faucets reveal its functionality, with all appliances hidden in two vertical columns.

At the center axis is a round dining table with chairs and a pendant light, defining the dining area. The furniture choice was minimalist Japanese style, emphasizing simplicity and balance.

Bedrooms and Bathrooms – Smooth Elegance

In private areas, soft lines and floating forms continue. The bed appears to have grown directly from the wall, creating a sense of weightlessness. Bathrooms reflect the same philosophy with curved surfaces and airy proportions.

Ode to Lines

Inside, the studio calls the project “Ode to Lines”, showcasing the perfectionism and attention to detail of Babayants Architects. Every corner, every millimeter and proportion is carefully considered to ensure harmony even in small details.

The result is an apartment that not only looks refined and delicate but also reflects the character of its owners — a space that truly looks and lives as they do.

This project is the perfect embodiment of Babayants Architects’ approach to working with lines; it even has an informal name — “Ode to Lines.” Extreme perfectionism and idyllic geometry are visible in the details: from architecture to joints and technical solutions. Although users don’t notice differences in millimeters, harmony and correct proportions are found precisely in these tiny details.

This interior is refined and gentle. It softly embraces you and comforts you. Every line is precise and harmonious. But most pleasingly, the space wonderfully reflects its clients and even looks like them.
