House VH by WYND
Designed by WYND, House VH is located on a beautiful site in Chicureo, Chile. The surrounding nature creates the perfect backdrop for an open-plan living home designed for both indoor and outdoor use.

In 2013, a couple without children bought a plot in "Las Brisas de Chicureo," intending to build a house in the future. Ten years later, when they had three children, they decided to construct a home. Given the project's requirements, a fast and efficient metal structure was chosen. The design is based on two overlapping beams where public and private zones are separated across different floors. At the intersection of these volumes, as the heart of the home, a double-height entrance with the main staircase designed as a sculpture from one sheet of bent steel was created, saving time and installation costs. This project uses strategic concrete walls that reduce the number of structural support points (columns), creating a smoother space on the first floor. This concept answers modern demands for spacious and integrated common areas.
Its proximity to a golf course determined the orientation of the beams, adopting an open position and directing rooms toward the landscape. For this purpose, an external corridor zone with various terraces oriented to the north was created. Using the space formed by overlapping beams, a solid roof was designed for both the terrace and barbecue area, allowing year-round use. The second level houses all private rooms, with a living room and office in the center as a meeting place. The materials of the house aim to be as noble as possible, while leaving raw open materials such as concrete floors, steel staircase, and the main structure made of black metal.
To emphasize windows facing outward, large thermal-pane window panels were used. The entire interior ceiling is clad with thermally treated wood (TopWood), and kitchen furniture was designed in neutral tones to give more attention to the living room and dining area. Ultimately, the entire house exterior is covered with EIFS panels for better thermal efficiency. HVAC systems are installed through floor, walls, and furniture, always trying to conceal devices as much as possible to achieve clean spaces.
