Villa Sanpourt by DP6 Architectuurstudio
DP6 Architectuurstudio designed Villa Sanpourt in a magnificent location in Sanpourt-Nord, Netherlands. The villa is created as modern family housing rising among abundance of greenery. One aspect of the design is maximizing connection with the natural environment surrounding this house.
Situated between tall trees along the street, Villa Sanpourt is family housing fully integrated into its green surroundings.
The old tree-lined street, adorned with birches, forms a magnificent backdrop. The owners had specific desires for their new home. They wanted to enjoy the forest nature, make living areas as private as possible and place bedrooms in the basement. After examining the densely overgrown plot, they discovered a beautiful old birch-lined street that forms a magnificent backdrop for the garden and is perfectly oriented towards the sun.
The villa encompasses a green plot. DP6 designed an elongated volume with curves that makes it appear as if the villa embraces its green surroundings. The facade facing the birch-lined street is fully transparent, allowing the inside and outside worlds to merge seamlessly. The facade facing the public road is more protected and mostly closed. Entrance and dining areas have low ceilings and are more intimate, while the kitchen and living room are high-ceilinged and spacious. Expanding onto the terrace, the mezzanine provides a lofty view over the sequence of living spaces. Bedrooms are located in the basement, with the main bedroom at one end leading to a private green area.

A dynamic play of space and light. Villa Sanpourt is designed to enhance perception: smooth connections with the street, views enhanced by curves and a play of light filtered through trees and falling onto tactile materials.
The angular upper part of the volume is clad with vertical panels and bamboo strips. The light filtered through these vertical panels changes over time: during the day, the strips blend with the upper bamboo cladding, while in the evening, the entire void is visible from outside as interior light penetrates through the strips.
