Q_arts Arquitetura designed a beautiful modern home on a small farm in Itaara, Brazil. The T&T Residence is located on a gentle slope surrounded by stunning landscapes. It features two levels and direct access to a modern terrace with an infinity pool blending into the natural surroundings.

A small sloped farm of about 20 meters. The landscape is defined by preserved nature, minimal intervention in the surroundings of the city of Itaara.

The most remarkable aspect of this project was determining its placement: a plateau interrupting the slope. From the street, little is visible beyond high walls due to its location on lower levels. The path to the house from the gate is long and follows the terrain’s contours. This scenario became the first limiting factor.

The second was the desire to blend into this environment (rather than mimic it). This architectural truth regarding landscape was grounded in references that residents brought at the start of material, color and pattern selection. It was important to incorporate much of this collage into the proposal.

The dimensions of the house were determined from the outset. Restrictions set for rooms are softened by large windows, aiming to frame views of this landscape. Interior spaces emphasize the natural surroundings.

Regarding room distribution, there is no clear distinction between public and intimate zones. From the beginning it was decided that living areas should be integrated, making formality unnecessary. It was important to understand the rooms (summer and winter), as well as kitchen cabinets in small but expressive spaces.

Thus, we worked with angles and openings to achieve permeability without developing the idea of a single (wide) space. The depressions arising from this configuration define the concept of a terrace-pavilion.

Intimate rooms are oriented toward the valley and protected from street view. Solar control on these surfaces is managed via blinds and balconies.

Study space defines circulation and expansion of the master bedroom. There is also access to a fireplace terrace designed as an overview for the surrounding area and nature.
