Fully modern apartment in a building from 1884
Every time we find a renovated apartment in a building of the same age, we are amazed by the work of designers and the continuity of style despite the years. If decorating a home is not just about aesthetics, practicality and comfort, then when you need to transfer the style of a building that is much older and classical into today's times, while maintaining some modernity, the task becomes even more challenging.
PinterestStarting from this, elements from other eras such as plaster, pink windows, high ceilings, double doors, period furniture... but how to integrate this into a modern home without making the result a vintage scene with too many accessories, overloaded furniture, etc.? Simply by removing excess and keeping only what is necessary, good finishes and coatings.
Maintaining a neutral palette in beige, sand and white tones helps from the beginning since we achieve an timeless effect. If you choose furniture made of natural wood or with upholstery in the same colors, on a more classic wooden floor with a caterpillar pattern for example, we add even more continuity to this style.
This building may be 137 years old, but the 58 m² apartment fully meets our requirements in 2021: bright, spacious, well-decorated, convenient, comfortable and in this case, a privileged location in the center of Stockholm - we love it and don't mind living there.
