Sumei Skyline Coast Boutique Hotel by GS Design

The project is located near "The Skyline Coast," a popular tourist attraction in Sanya, Hainan, featuring an extensive and open seascape surrounded by pleasant sounds of rising waves that promote relaxation and mood enhancement in an immersive blue natural atmosphere. The designer offers two interpretations of the building's facade from different sides – externally it resembles ocean waves rising and falling at the shore; internally, each wave peak forms a separate frame representing vivid pictures of boundless blue ocean.

The designer transforms the hotel lobby, unlike traditional ones, into a reception area for rest, photography, and high tea. Height differences in the shallow water zone further enhance artistic ambiance – inspired by a winding coastline, the designer creates a boundary for this area as a multi-functional platform demonstrating rich layered visual effects with pool and ocean.

The designer skillfully uses pure white tones to highlight strong contrast with sky, marine landscape and sunset, providing a photo backdrop for all scenarios and conditions. "We aim to create a space that is an elegant artistic work with lasting use, employing this classic color," says the designer about the concept.

Blue sky, vast ocean, beach and palm trees are perfectly captured inside an arched frame thanks to precise aesthetic proportional relationships. Walking through sequential arch windows, people gain a wide view of the pure white space filled with bright natural landscapes throughout the zone.

Functionally, the first underground level presents a bar and infinity pool that opens at different times or serves as an excellent venue for pool parties due to its free layout with minimal partitions. The pool visually integrates with the endless ocean and boundless blue sky, offering people a natural swimming experience freely in the vast ocean.

The champagne bottle-shaped matrix and golden color blend beautifully together, adorning the space within such a pure white context. People can enjoy the best sunset anywhere in the space, walking, standing, sitting or even swimming. With a glass of wine, magnificent natural light and landscapes, the romantic atmosphere in the space deserves every moment.

When a person's gaze moves away from the infinity pool and meets the invisible connection between pure white and blue, it changes their perception and imagination on the rooftop.

With a wide view from the roof overlooking misty green hills in the distance and enjoying an extensive and boundless sea up close, the designer maximized landscape by dividing space into multiple aesthetic zones including observation areas, seating, hot springs, photo zones, immersing people in a Mikonos atmosphere. The shallow water works as a mirror of the sky, stone steps and recessed seating express spatial order, and the arch installation forms a photo point... This creates a relaxed and pleasant interactive scene combining nature and art.

The designer arranged art using simple graphic morphemes, depicting circles within a square and overlapping them to form a loop, ensuring deep vertical layer effects in the hot spring zone. Changes in light and shadow depict poetry on spatial structure; silhouettes of waves, afterglow of sunset, ripples in the hot spring pool - all are intersections of time and space.

The designer used light to decorate the scene, easily explaining aesthetic texture and interplay between light and shadow. If a window brings waves and sunset into the space, light through the roof above bed brings twinkling stars and further enhances natural atmosphere.

Geometric elements such as circles, semicircles and squares represent individual frames that form a three-dimensional and dramatic aesthetic scale by placing them in the background of space.

The designer removed visible doors in the transitional arch zone to emphasize a free and natural entry structure, allowing people to linger in this pure white secret realm.

Enjoying the sea landscape with a clear mind. The designer maximized natural light and sea level introduction, creating a gentle perception of landscape from various viewpoints through height differences in furniture. When lying on the bed, people can enjoy a shimmering artistic vision anytime by raising their gaze to sea level.

People can experience a wonderful sleep with cool sea breeze and natural sounds of waves. The designer applied perfect proportions to visualize clean and magnificent landscapes with a framed structure, flawlessly allowing people's imagination to meet the landscape at that moment.

Art originates from life and transcends it. GS Design excellently explores and expresses the abundance of minimalist art, with an arch serving as a scene window in this project. All furniture and bedding within the space are pure white, making material texture a dialogue between gentleness and roughness. When light and shadow penetrate through the door, structural relationships between points, lines and surfaces uniquely become alive and playful.

As it gets darker, sunset slowly sinks into the sea in parts, and scattered fishing boats on the horizon return. Rare street lamps along the shore light up one after another, intertwining with sunset's afterglow and creating a soft and warm atmosphere permeating the entire rooftop. A natural kingdom, removed from hustle and bustle, also enduring artistic life here gently inspires people to enjoy life.
