Sanctuary for Sports Enthusiasts by Klopf Architecture: Modern Home Designed for Active Lifestyle
In Los Gatos, California, Klopf Architecture in collaboration with Studio M Merge transformed a vintage mid-century house into a dynamic, experience-focused home designed for a family of five with a deep passion for sports. Completed in 2020, the Sanctuary for Sports Enthusiasts reflects a lifestyle centered on health, recreation, and family togetherness.
Seamless Integration of Interior and Exterior Spaces
The renovated house embraces an open layout, natural lighting, and strong visual connections to surrounding gardens and amenities. Interior upgrades include expanded public areas, a new bedroom, and an updated main bathroom. The flow of the home has been reimagined to foster both social interaction and personal solitude.
A standout feature is the attached accessory dwelling unit (ADU), which houses a stylish sports bar area and flexible office space that also serves as a living room—perfect for guests or adapting to changing family needs.
Outdoor Sports Oasis
Klopf Architecture's vision went beyond the main house. The outdoor spaces now resemble a private sports resort, including:
-
Spacious terraces and shaded patios
-
Half-court basketball court
-
Disc golf ring
-
Puddle pools for cooling off after games
-
Sports field, ideal for various outdoor activities
-
Pool house, perfectly positioned for framing views of the adjacent golf course
Every element is thoughtfully designed to invite activity while maintaining visual harmony between architecture and landscape.
Custom Home for Active Lifestyle
This renovation is more than aesthetics; it supports a lifestyle. Each space was created for the family's favorite activities. Whether hosting a party, relaxing, or staying active, the home accommodates multiple lifestyles without compromising comfort or aesthetics.
The Sanctuary for Sports Enthusiasts is a testament to modern residential architecture where design becomes the canvas for living. It's more than just a house—it's a thoughtfully designed environment for joy, health, and connection.
