In Guangzhou, China, the company CUN DESIGN created the RARA Whole-House Showroom, also known as the RARA Bamboo Yard—a 330 m² (3,558 sq ft) showroom and office space that redefines the future of whole-house design. Completed in 2023, the project combines functionality, aesthetics, and philosophy, transforming a commercial showroom into a monumental yet human-centered architectural declaration.

Squareness and Roundness: A Dual Philosophy

The design concept of RARA is based on an ancient Chinese principle: 'The path of heaven is round, the path of earth is square.'

  • Cuboids intersect with round columns, creating a precisely calculated design language.

  • Geometry becomes more than form—it symbolizes the duality of constancy and change.

  • The result is a space that appears sculptural, monumental, yet deeply philosophical.

By abandoning traditional rectangular layouts, CUN DESIGN creates an aesthetic structure where order and beauty coexist.

Order and Freedom: Immersive Circulation

The showroom balances spatial order with experimental freedom:

  • The layout of squares and circles creates a flexible, fluid circulation.

  • Visitors experience a sense of 'slowing down' in time and space, encouraging slow exploration.

  • Transitions are designed as immersive encounters, where architecture becomes an active participant in the story.

This balance between order and autonomy makes the showroom both a showroom and functional office, anticipating the future of workplace design in a post-pandemic era—wireless, intelligent, mobile, and deeply humanized.

Bamboo Facade Cladding: Architecture Meets Nature

The exterior of the showroom is covered with horizontally placed bamboo elements:

  • Smooth lines and rhythmic patterns create natural monumentality.

  • Trees integrated into the facade become vital points of interest, adding life and energy to the architecture.

  • The minimalist exterior invites curiosity and draws people inside.

This synthesis of bamboo and architecture reflects sustainability and cultural symbolism, positioning RARA as a brand rooted in tradition but oriented toward innovation.

Interiors: Individuality as Art

Inside, light and shadow bring to life a gallery of individual lifestyle solutions:

  • Cabinets, antique chests, wall displays, invisible doors—all integrated with precision.

  • A high bookshelf functions as storage and partition, creating layered visual effects.

  • The curved spatial structure offers opposing perspectives of concealment and revelation.

The attention to fine details and craftsmanship reflects RARA's tradition in luxurious individual home customization, combining functionality, elegance, and cultural significance.

Beyond the Show: Philosophy of Life

The RARA exhibition is more than a product showcase. It's an architectural manifesto:

  • Breaking physical boundaries, creating endless opportunities for perception.

  • Merging practicality and artistic value in every corner.

  • Achieving deep integration of inside and outside, where design flows seamlessly across boundaries.

For CUN DESIGN, the exhibition represents a philosophical engagement with time and space. The intersection of squareness and roundness begins without end, offering eternity in design.

Why This Project Matters

The RARA Whole-House Showroom demonstrates how architecture, philosophy, and brand identity can unite to create a new type of showroom space. By incorporating symbological geometry, sustainable bamboo facade, and immersive circulation, CUN DESIGN elevates the showroom to a cultural experience blending East and West, past and future.

It is simultaneously a platform for home customization and a spatial essay on order, freedom, and timeless beauty, proving that even commercial architecture can embody deep meaning and artistic value.
