The design of a small living room can use various techniques for decoration and furniture arrangement.

• Mirrors fit perfectly into a living room interior. There are different ways to use them.

For example, a mirror wall or a mirror wardrobe opposite the window not only visually expands the small room but also makes it brighter.

It is not necessary to decorate the entire wall with mirrors. A long horizontal mirror hung above the sofa will increase space not only through reflection but also due to its shape.

• An L-shaped sofa works well in a small living room. It might seem like a large bulky piece of furniture, but why not? In a small living room, it's not always possible to place both a sofa and armchairs.

An L-shaped sofa is practically a sofa and an armchair combined.

A corner sofa covered with dense brown fabric, a low coffee table of dark wood with carved legs, a low elongated dresser opposite the sofa, on which a plasma TV and several wooden figurines are placed, a painting with ethnic motifs on a free wall, a ceramic vase in a free corner, and fabric blinds on the windows in the same color as the sofa – all this creates a cozy living room in an ethnic style.

Design of a Square Living Room

By choosing a wall where the central element of the interior will be placed, furniture can be arranged around it in a classical manner—rural English or French style.

For example, a fireplace and a mirror or a TV and an aged dresser in the center of one of the walls, next to it a coffee table in the same style, and on both sides of it a sofa and two armchairs with fabric covers—all in pastel tones.

Design of a square living room in any style can use both asymmetry and symmetry. For example, identical table lamps in the corners, shelves or small cupboards, armchairs on both sides of the sofa. An interesting look will be a sofa placed in a niche with symmetrical furniture walls, a bookcase, especially in the color of bleached wood. In a square living room, it is not recommended to use the entire perimeter; it's better to arrange furniture along one or two walls.

A small rectangular or square living room will be cozy if the furniture does not stand on top of each other. Regarding decoration, traditionally light tones are recommended. Partitions, niches, gypsum board structures – all of these are unnecessary in the design of a small living room.
