House in Sozopol by Simple Architecture

The house is located near the Black Sea city of Sozopol and sits on a plot with panoramic sea views.

The project consists of partial reconstruction and complete visual transformation of the existing house. The old house was built around 15 years ago in a style imitating authentic architectural elements and materials typical for Sozopol: many sloped roofs with tiles, facade lathing and tile cladding, balconies and arches.

The client's desire was to achieve the opposite effect: a contrasting, memorable, minimalist and modern architecture.

The main task of the project was to minimize the cluster of geometries and highlight the constructive principle of the building, making some spatial and organizational improvements to the interior.

The leading idea of this project was to create a light, elegant and ethereal atmosphere dominated by the sea view and constantly changing colors of the surrounding nature. Both interior and exterior were designed in white tones with a single colorful accent—artworks located in the house.

The courtyard has various relaxation zones, each with unique qualities, providing a diverse experience of the outdoor space.

Organized as a three-story house, it features one large common area including the living room, kitchen and dining room. There are also four bedrooms, four bathrooms, two toilets as well as storage and service rooms. The furniture with its plastic, abstract and non-standard forms was carefully selected to create a general feeling of being in an art gallery.
