House 222 by Worc Arquitectos

Worc Arquitectos designed an exquisite House 222 in Matanzas, a stunning beach area near the city of Santiago, Chile. The location is impeccable — it's a northern slope offering spectacular views of the beach and surrounding rocks. The house presents a wooden structure with modern design both inside and out, emphasizing beautiful views.

This house was designed for a young couple with two children who wanted to have a beach house near the city of Santiago. The chosen location was Matanzas, where they found a plot on a hill facing north with an excellent view of the beach and huge rocks of the village La Boca de Rapel.

The challenge was to maximize the views, provide shelter from southern winds on the open terrace, and create an asymmetrical form ensuring privacy from the main entrance.

To achieve this, three independent zones were designed that all converge in a glass corridor and central terrace protected from the wind by volumes that function as an extension of the dining room and kitchen.

The bedrooms should have ocean views, so we chose a diagonal offset of the second bedroom from the main volume and determined an appropriate orientation to obtain the best view. The interior spaces were developed with a height of up to 3.40 meters, which reveals the external form of the volume and its internal space, creating frames and orientation towards the ocean. The main entrance features vertical louvers that deflect winds from the entrance and ensure privacy of interior spaces.
