House 1105 by H Arquitectes

Created by the architectural studio H Arquitectes, the House 1105 project is a modern residence located in Serdanolla de Vallès, Spain. Despite its modest size of 1300 square feet, this building offers comfortable multi-level accommodation with a minimalist facade.

A brief description of the site explains the project strategy: dimensions determine height and number of floors (3) and minimal built-up area (40 m²). The parents became the reason for concentrating free space, turning the garden into access and hallway of the house. Orientation indicates that the southern facade side is the main source of light and views, unrestricted with a large number of refurbished windows. An addition is a polycarbonate greenhouse gallery that acts as a heat collector and sun protector. Only the northern facade side contains other windows, ensuring good air circulation.

The staircase, single-level, crosswise and reversible, serves as vertical connection and distributor of six received spaces. Only the bathroom and laundry room have specific functions, while the other five spaces are conditionally assigned to home programs defined by the client. Spaces are strongly differentiated by geometry, material and comfort but weakly in functionality.
