How to Design a Modern Kitchen?
We turned to experts – interior design specialist Alexey Sorokin and his wife, interior designer Natalya Sorokina.

I draw inspiration from travel. I regularly visit international exhibitions to stay updated on the latest innovations and trends. I enjoy sharing my knowledge by conducting masterclasses and teaching students at the British Higher School of Design. I believe that every design project should be created with honesty, integrity, and soul. When receiving a new interior design commission, the client entrusts you with their comfort and environment for years to come. And how comfortable they feel depends entirely on you!

Tip #1: Appliances Today, it's impossible to imagine a kitchen without household appliances. Choose modern models in chrome. Manufacturers offer many steel options—be sure to consider them. Ideally, such appliances should match the chrome fittings on cabinets and other storage systems.
Pay attention to models with touch controls and various lighting features. Besides appearance, your appliances should include cutting-edge "features." For example, instead of a traditional hood, opt for a retractable one that hides in the ceiling and only emerges when needed.
It's currently trendy to equip kitchens with induction cooktops. They cost slightly more than standard hobs, but they offer modern design, and their glass-ceramic surface perfectly complements chrome elements on other appliances.

Tip #2: Equipment Innovation is one of the key factors in a modern kitchen. This includes sinks, taps, and even electrical outlets.
For example, instead of traditional taps, choose models with backlighting, sensors, touch controls, and various functions—such as water heating, like in a kettle.
Outlets can also be unique. Pay attention to models that extend from the countertop. Modern kitchens also feature mechanisms like push-up soft-close hinges and hidden handles.

Tip #3: Lighting Unlike classical design, modern design breaks conventions. It offers more freedom for creativity and innovative techniques. Therefore, you can use more light sources and highlight specific zones with lighting.
Use recessed spotlights, internal and external cabinet lighting, LED strips, and of course, lamps with ultra-modern designs for main lighting.
Control lighting scenarios via remote, dimmer, or touch switch. This simplifies daily life and adds an innovative touch.

Tip #4: Materials, Shapes, and Colors When designing a kitchen in a modern style, choose straight, lacquered cabinet fronts without panels.
Pay attention to new finishing materials. Modern kitchens love glass and metal.
Choose large-format tiles.
Minimize decoration.
Modern kitchens can feature more vibrant colors, including bright shades like mint green, yellow, and orange.
