House with Moving Terrace in Poland
House with Moving Terrace in Poland
Architects KWK Promes designed a private residence with an area of 558 square meters in Poland. The client wanted their house to be simple, bright, and relaxing, as well as responsive to the movement of the sun. An undeveloped, rectangular plot in the suburbs became the starting point for the project. The architects gave the mansion the desired connection with the environment by orienting part of the first floor away from the road.
The movement and speed of the terrace are adapted to the trajectory of the sun. The drive system is fully automated and equipped with advanced safety sensors, although manual control is also possible. The terrace is programmed to move continuously throughout the day, allowing natural grass to grow underneath.
In addition, clients wanted their simple house to have a flat roof, but local regulations required a sloped roof, so the architects provided a dual solution: the mansion features a gabled roof facing the street and a flat roof facing the garden.
