Architect's House in Switzerland

This modest house, originally intended for railway builders, was constructed in 1911 from stone blocks found during track laying. Restored by Ralph Germann Architectes, it stands on a hillside slope surrounded by green vegetation in Montreux, Switzerland, offering a breathtaking view of the Alps, Lake Geneva, and the Riviera.

The ground floor features a living room and kitchen connected to the garden. The main bedroom is strategically located in the center of the house, while the children's area occupies the upper level. The parent floor spans 80 square meters and represents an open, multi-functional space. The architect created the perfect home for himself—a bright, minimalist house with minimal doors and unobtrusive built-in wardrobes hidden within architectural volumes. Several indispensable sliding doors disappear between walls, leaving the space completely open.
