Villas at the Foot of the Sacred Mountain Chambashan
Villas in the forest valley at the foot of Chambashan Mountain in China were designed by Origin Architect studio. The site is located at the edge of urban development, where the urban environment closely approaches nature.
Buildings resembling Chinese characters from above do not have predetermined forms. They seem to grow freely from the ground, gently wrapping around existing trees and opening toward the sun and landscape.
Hardly touching the site's surface, the villas softly float above the ground and stream, minimizing destructive impact on the soil. Spaces beneath the buildings are open to light, wind, and rainwater. Lush greenery thrives everywhere, small wild animals move freely around and under the houses. It is known that Chinese tortoises—rare birds surviving from the Tertiary period—are found here. Ancient birds also find their paradise, as they too have shelter here.
