House with a Series of Internal Courtyards in Mexico
Designed by Andrés Stebelski Arquitecto, this private house with a total area of 315 square meters is located in the historic district of Toluca, on the west side of Mexico City, Mexico. This residence aims to reinterpret the use of internal courtyards in a modern way.
The house is designed with two floors. On the first floor, there are public areas such as the entrance, parking area, laundry room, kitchen, dining room, and office. On the second floor, there are three bedrooms with private wardrobes and bathrooms. The double-height living room connects the two floors, the staircase, and the internal courtyard.
Plants within the courtyards become part of the house, creating a sense of living in contact with the outside world. Thanks to these internal courtyards, sunlight fills the house throughout the day, creating a play of reflections and shadows that bring life to the space.
The roof features a temperature-regulating garden with a glass cube—an ideal spot for reading and observing the rooftops of old Toluca.
