House with a Vintage Eucalyptus in the Yard is a project developed by FMD Architects studio in Melbourne, Australia. The 129-square-meter house got its name from a cozy nickname — Old Be-al — given to the old, picturesque curved tree of Mallee, a local variety of eucalyptus.

Thus, architects based their work on two main starting points — the tender feelings owners had towards the old tree and the appreciation of the original brickwork of the house.

The V-shaped form of the eucalyptus with a split trunk and spreading branches is repeated in numerous details — from the outlines of ceiling beams to custom-made lights, cabinet handles, and towel racks in the bathroom.
